We are looking for personal assistants for Göran, 42, who lives with his family in Matfors, just under two miles west of Sundsvall. Following a spinal cord injury, Göran needs support in his daily life. He has no brain injury — he is the same person as before, with the same thoughts, will, humor, and drive — but now needs physical assistance to live the life he wants to live.

The role involves much more than care. As an assistant, you will be a key enabler in Göran's daily life: at home, in parenthood, in rehabilitation, and in an ongoing active life. The family has high demands on competence, sensitivity, and quality — and they care just as much about you as an assistant thriving, feeling secure, and finding meaning in your work. Here you will have a role where your contribution makes a real difference. The family, consisting of Göran, their four-year-old son, and an adult daughter, lives in a rural two-story villa together with their cat.

About the role

You will support Göran in three areas:

Physical support and care. You help with personal care and practical daily tasks — transfers, meals, household chores, and planning — so that daily life runs smoothly.

Rehabilitation and development. Rehabilitation is a key part of Göran's life right now. You do not need to know everything from the start; supervision is available. We are looking for someone who is curious, eager to learn, and finds it meaningful to support someone in regaining function and independence.

Support in parenthood. Göran is a father to a four-year-old son and wants to continue being a present and active parent. You will help in situations where he needs physical assistance to be a dad — during drop-offs and pick-ups at preschool, during activities, and in everyday family moments.

The job also includes accompanying Göran to training, doctor's appointments, and other leisure activities.

Who are you as an applicant?

We are looking for someone who is personally suitable for the role and sees personal assistance as a profession. The chemistry between you and Göran is crucial, and you thrive in a role where much happens and where your sensitivity and attention to detail are noticed in daily life. You work closely with Göran and his family and have a natural sense of what it means to work in someone's home.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license (Category B)
• Non-smoker
• Good command of Swedish, both spoken and written
• Not allergic to cats

The family lives a couple of miles west of Sundsvall. You need a driver's license both for work, as you drive Göran in daily life, and to commute to and from the assignment smoothly.

About the employment

We offer a fixed-term employment for the duration of the assignment. You are offered a fixed hourly wage according to agreement and other benefits according to the collective agreement (Fremia-Kommunal: Personal Assistance). Working hours and scope are according to the schedule; more information is provided during the interview. Start date is by agreement.
