Functional Support is a business area within the Welfare Administration. Part of the mandate is to implement decisions made under the LSS Act (Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments), primarily decisions regarding housing with special services, personal assistance, and day activities. The goal of the support provided is to promote equality in living conditions and full participation in society, so that the individual granted an intervention has the opportunity to live like others.

The temporary group home in Bjästa has space for seven residents. In the operation, a support educator, support assistants, and support staff work in a team of 10 employees in total. Together, we provide support to our residents around the clock, every day of the year.

Our work is carried out through individually tailored support with high quality and respect for self-determination, where a good attitude permeates all operations. We are therefore looking for an engaged and goal-oriented support assistant who wants to contribute to developing our operations!

The group home is currently temporarily located in Bjästa, but may in the long term move to another location within Örnsköldsvik Municipality. The timing and location of any potential move have not yet been determined.

Responsibilities

You are responsible for creating and following up on implementation plans, other social documentation, and other administrative tasks and areas of responsibility together with the user, such as schedules, purchase orders, health, and safety.

Together with your colleagues, you will carry out day-to-day and planned support interventions and activities together with the user, as well as support and motivate in daily activities at home and during leisure time. It is part of the role to build trusting relationships with the users and to be a good role model.

You will ensure that support interventions are based on the user's individual needs, promote independence, participation, and are carried out with respect for the user's integrity and self-determination. You help with daily chores and activities, personal hygiene, and medication, among other things.

Working hours are scheduled as evenly distributed evenings and nights. The position includes weekend duty for 2 out of 4 weekends. The work involves that you will work alone during part of your shifts.

You drive development work forward together with colleagues according to established goals, methods, quality requirements, and other guidelines. Collaborating with the user's network, other staff, and other partners is also an important part of the work.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a upper secondary education in either the Care and Nursing program with specialization in the program deepening disability or psychiatry, the Child and Youth program with a focus on social work or pedagogical work, or other equivalent education assessed by the employer as equivalent. Alternatively, other equivalent education or experience assessed by the employer as sufficient.

To work in care and nursing, you must be at least 18 years old. It is important that you have the ability to meet people professionally based on their individual conditions and needs. As a person, you are self-reliant and stress-resistant with the individual in focus. You are empathetic and responsible, and you find it easy to collaborate with others. You have good social skills and enjoy working in a flexible manner. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

You need to feel comfortable working alone.

Experience of working within LSS is meritorious.

A Category B driver's license is required for the position.

Sufficient knowledge of Swedish in speaking and writing is required for the work, including the ability to communicate with users, perform care documentation, and receive medication delegation.

In connection with the interview, we will conduct an identity check and verify citizenship. Approved documents are passport, international ID card, driver's license plus personal certificate from the Swedish Tax Agency, or other ID document that strengthens citizenship. For some positions, extracts from the police's suspicion and criminal record register are required. We welcome language skills in Finnish and/or any of the Sami varieties, as Örnsköldsvik Municipality is included in both the Finnish and Sami administrative areas.

In our municipality, a number of positions are placed in security class, so security clearance may be conducted. These positions may require Swedish citizenship.
