About Us

Do you want to work in a government agency with an important societal mission? The Swedish Customs Authority (Tullverket) contributes to creating a safe and secure society and offers an exciting opportunity to work as an Assistant Division Manager for the Administration Division, focusing on results through change and development work.

The Swedish Customs Authority's Administration Division consists of management support and five national units responsible for the areas of economy and business control, security and preparedness, premises issues, procurement, and business services. The division currently consists of approximately 100 employees geographically distributed across the country and is led by a Division Manager based in Stockholm.

About the Position

As the Assistant Division Manager, your main task will be to support the Division Manager in leading the division. You will have operational and personnel responsibility for employees working in the division's management support team. The management support team currently consists of four people who report to the Division Manager.

In this role, you will lead, steer, and follow up on the Swedish Customs Authority's long-term work within the division's area of responsibility. You will also be responsible for building networks both externally and internally to maintain and strengthen trust in the division's operations. The position is located in Stockholm.

Are You the One We Are Looking For?

We are looking for you who have:

  • Relevant academic education or other education/experience that can be considered equivalent.
  • Several years of managerial experience with both operational and personnel responsibility.
  • Several years of experience working in a government agency and a good understanding of how government agencies function in leadership, steering, and follow-up.
  • Good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in both Swedish and English.
  • Swedish citizenship.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience of the Swedish Customs Authority's operations.
  • Experience of creating structure and clear working methods.
  • Experience of development work and change management.
  • Leadership training.

As a person, you are responsible, proactive, positive, and solution-oriented. You have a good overall perspective and can prioritize and quickly familiarize yourself with new areas. You will collaborate with many different actors within and outside the agency, so it is important that you have the ability to build good relationships with others and create an understanding of the importance of security work. Long-term thinking, quality awareness, and a well-developed analytical ability are crucial qualities for the position. Furthermore, you are accustomed to developing both people and operations through good leadership characterized by a coaching and communicative approach where you create engagement and participation among your employees to achieve results.

Employment Type: The position is permanent and starts with a 6-month probationary period, and individual salary setting applies. Within the Swedish Customs Authority, time-limited managerial appointments of 5 years with the possibility of extension are applied.

Start Date: According to agreement

The Swedish Customs Authority is a total defense agency, and upon employment, you may be assigned to wartime duties within the Swedish Customs Authority.
