RESPONSIBILITIES

As Director of Social Services, you are responsible for the municipality's consolidated social services administration, covering the following areas:

• Elderly care
• Individual and family services
• The municipality's employment unit
• Support for persons with disabilities
• Municipal primary healthcare

You lead the operations through your managers and hold overall responsibility for quality, economy, working environment, and operational development. The administration comprises approximately 600 employees who make a difference for our residents every day.

As Director of Social Services, you are an important part of the municipality's management group and actively contribute to the development of the entire municipality. You are expected to see the big picture, create good collaboration across operational boundaries, and drive Mörbylånga Municipality's joint development forward together with other managers.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for an experienced leader who combines strategic insight with a genuine interest in people and operations. Your role is to see the big picture, create direction, and make value-based decisions. Furthermore, you remove obstacles and enable employees and managers to succeed rather than micromanaging the operations.

You do not feel the need to have all the answers yourself; instead, you see strength in listening, asking questions, and utilizing the knowledge held by employees and managers close to the operations.

You are secure in your leadership and create stability even when conditions change. You have the ability to engage, create participation, and build strong relationships both within your own organization and with colleagues, politicians, union representatives, and external partners.

To succeed in the role, you need:

• An academic degree/education, e.g., Social Worker, Behavioral Science, or other relevant education.
• Several years of experience leading managers and large operations within the public sector.
• A good understanding of the mission, conditions, and future challenges of social services and care.
• Be a secure and strategic leader who can translate visions and goals into concrete results.
• Experience driving change and development work in collaboration with employees and managers.
• Value trust-based leadership and see employee competence as the most important driving force for development.
• Be communicative and skilled at building trusting and long-term relationships.
• Work to ensure that operations are conducted according to laws, guidelines, and political decisions.

The position also requires a driver's license and access to a personal car.
