About Southern Military District

 In the staff of the Southern Military District, both military and civilian personnel work towards this goal by coordinating military operations within their area and the activities of the Home Guard. We are now looking for a substitute Regional Chaplain with a good understanding of military operations. The Regional Chaplain is part of the district staff within the personnel department, which supports the commander in their leadership and creates the conditions for the units within MR S to fulfill their tasks.

Main Responsibilities

 The Regional Chaplain is responsible for and leads military spiritual care within the Southern Military District. Military spiritual care aims to contribute to and strengthen the sense of coherence, thereby increasing the individual's ability to perform, creating mental strength, and moral resilience. You will lead this work and provide support to the district's commanders. At the regional level, the work involves, among other things, recruiting and coordinating the district's military chaplains. It also involves coordinating close cooperation with civil, regional, and local authorities, such as municipalities, county administrative boards, and religious communities within MR S. You will participate as an expert in various planning and operations within the personnel service arena. The Regional Chaplain should also be present in relevant civil networks for environmental scanning, to build a strong brand and contribute to making the Swedish Armed Forces an integrated part of society.

REQUIREMENTS

 Qualifications

• Completed relevant university/college education or education assessed by the employer as equivalent
• At least 5 years of experience as a parish priest or experience assessed by the employer as equivalent
• Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English
• Driver's license class B (manual) or higher

MERITORIOUS

• Experience of working in a management group
• Previous employment as a chaplain in the Swedish Armed Forces
• Overseas service, preferably within the framework of the Swedish Armed Forces

Other 

Employment type: Temporary position, approx. 8 months until 2027-06-30.

 Degree of employment: Full-time. Work during evenings and weekends occurs, as well as travel with overnight stays.

 Work location: Lund.

 Start date: November 2026.

The Southern Military District (MR S) is a wartime unit and an organizational unit where the Commander and Staff are located in Revingehed. The organization consists of the Commander with staff, five military district groups for training and support of the Home Guard, and approx. 7,000 Home Guard soldiers organized in eleven battalions and a number of independent units. Commander MR S with regional staff leads subordinate units, cooperates with regional and local actors, leads security and intelligence services, and supports operational and tactical commanders who fulfill tasks within the region.
