Are you looking for a part-time job alongside your studies that will give you a competitive edge for your future career? We offer an opportunity to gain experience in the field of economics and make you more attractive on the job market upon graduation.

The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in both research and education at all levels. Today, we are Uppsala University's third largest department, with just over 350 employees, including 120 teachers and 120 doctoral students. Approximately 5,000 undergraduate students take one or more courses at the department each year. Find more information about us on the department's website (https://www.uu.se/institution/informationsteknologi (https://www.uu.se/institution/informationsteknologi)).

As an Economics Assistant, you will be part of the economic function within the department's administrative group. The economic function consists of four economists, one economic administrator, and one economic coordinator. Within the administrative group, we are 25 people working cross-functionally to provide high-quality support to teachers, researchers, and doctoral students in a creative and international environment.

Responsibilities

As an Economics Assistant, you will provide economic administrative support to the economic function and our core operations. You will primarily handle supplier invoices, expense reports, and, where applicable, one-time payments, as well as other common tasks within the finance department. As an assistant, you will gain a good insight into how economic work is conducted at a government workplace, and your tasks may broaden. Other administrative tasks may also occur. Since our workplace is a multifaceted and international environment, you are expected to communicate and answer questions fluently in both Swedish and English.

Eligibility Requirements

To be employed as an assistant, it is a requirement that you are admitted to education at the first or second cycle, according to the Higher Education Act (HF) Chapter 5, Section 12.

Qualification Requirements

  • Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing
  • Good knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel
  • Completed courses in economics equivalent to at least 60 credits

We will place great emphasis on personal qualities. The work as an assistant involves many contacts, which is why it is important to have a well-developed sense of service and the ability to communicate in a listening manner. Since economic work is generally governed by clear deadlines and timeframes, it is important that you have the ability to plan, structure, and prioritize your work. We are looking for someone with personal qualities such as attention to detail, high cooperation skills, a structured work approach, and the ability to take on a supportive role in economic work in a non-hierarchical manner.

Merits

  • Experience working in several different computer systems, preferably those used at Uppsala University, such as Proceedo, Primula, and others
  • Highly valued experience in invoice processing and working with expense reports
  • Highly valued work experience, preferably from a government agency

Application Process

In this recruitment, we have replaced the cover letter with questions that you answer in connection with your application. The answers will be used as part of the selection process. The application must also include a CV, a registration certificate showing that you are admitted to education at a university/college during the term, and anything else you wish to cite (copies of grades, certificates, or similar).
