The Social Services Department's mission is to work with social services and provide support so that everyone in the municipality feels safe and has equal opportunities in life. We want everyone to be able to be active and participate in society. With a focus on respecting the individual's right to determine their own life, we are responsible for three key areas: care and nursing, support for people with disabilities, and assistance to individuals and families. The Workplace

Within the Disability Support Department, there are group homes, service apartments, service interventions, day activities, children's and youth residences, as well as short-term and leisure activities conducted in accordance with the Support and Service Act (LSS) and relevant authority decisions for each individual user. The department also includes social psychiatric activities conducted in accordance with the Social Services Act (SoL).

Our workplaces are located both in Trelleborg town and urban areas, as well as in some of the municipality's villages and rural areas.

This announcement is for a position within service housing for the target group of adults.

Job Responsibilities

As a support assistant, you play a vital role in providing support and services to users based on individual needs, focusing on independence, self-determination, and participation.

The work is based on relevant authority decisions and the individual's implementation plan. You work to create safety and quality of life through low-affective handling, structure, clarifying pedagogy, and good communication.

In your daily work as a support assistant, you provide support and guidance to users in their everyday lives from a pedagogical and practical approach. The support includes help with care/hygiene, cooking, and skill training, as well as leisure activities that are important to the user.

The foundation of the work is good and clear communication as well as respectful interaction. You work to create calm and safety for users in various situations they encounter in their daily lives. Furthermore, you are a support and create conditions for good contact with relatives, healthcare, and other contacts important to each user. You collaborate primarily with other support assistants, support pedagogues, and management to continuously develop the operations and achieve set goals.

Qualifications

To be considered for the role, you need to have a secondary or vocational degree from the Child and Youth program with a specialization in disability; the Care and Nursing program; or another equivalent education assessed by the employer as comparable. You have professional experience in meeting and supporting people with disabilities. Furthermore, you have good computer skills and the ability to read and write social documentation in Swedish. You also need good physical fitness to carry out and support activities with users. A requirement is that you have at least a Category B driver's license for a manual transmission car, as the job requires driving.

It is meritorious if you have experience and competence in any of the following areas: planning, conducting, and following up on activities for users/patients; work with clarifying pedagogy; challenging behavior and PECS (TAKK).

You are stable and confident, sensitive to the user's needs, and take responsibility while collaborating well with everyone you meet. You adapt easily to changing circumstances and see opportunities instead of obstacles in emerging situations. You use your curiosity and learnings to constantly improve the daily lives of our users.

Safety Requirements: Before an employment offer, you must present an acceptable extract from the police criminal record register along with identity documents.
