About SciLifeLab

The largest hub for SciLifeLab is SciLifeLab Campus Solna. In the building, approximately 1,300 dedicated researchers and support staff move about. Here, modern laboratories are continuously adapted and developed to accommodate cutting-edge research with the latest standards and methods.
About the department/group
At SciLifeLab Campus Solna, the Site Support group works with the purpose of enabling and making the infrastructure that researchers need accessible. Here, you become part of a pleasant team of eight people with high competence and a high service level. You will be employed by KTH and placed at Campus Solna. As a Lab-Coordinator, you will work closely with colleagues in Site Support, as many tasks overlap or are shared within the team.
Responsibilities
The work combines service and support in a research environment.
- Help our tenants navigate various technical issues that may arise in the operation of a laboratory, such as electricity, gas, cooling, benches, and equipment.
- Participate in defining and specifying tenants' requirements regarding laboratory needs, such as electricity, gas, cooling, benches, and equipment.
- Compile information prior to renovations and adaptations of research laboratories.
- Compile documentation and participate in improvement work, such as policies.
- Initiate, drive, execute, and follow up on smaller projects, while keeping all parties updated.
- This role has a coordinating function involving the organization of service and maintenance of various systems in the buildings. This may involve contacting and organizing third-party suppliers to solve problems in the lab, such as gas piping or cooling issues.
- Together with our freezer manager, organize practical tasks related to our freezer hotel. This may include handling our temperature monitoring system ViewLinc from the Finnish company Vaisala, or purchasing new freezers through framework agreement suppliers.
- Purchasing, and assisting with procurements within the Public Procurement Act (LOU).
Qualifications
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in technical or natural science subjects, or equivalent competence acquired through work experience that the employer deems relevant.
- You speak and write Swedish and English fluently, as this is required in daily work.
- You have at least five years of experience working in laboratory operations, research infrastructure, technical management, facility management, or other related activities that the employer deems relevant.

We are looking for someone with high social competence. You thrive working with many different contact surfaces simultaneously, such as tenants, other departments, and functions. To succeed in this role, you need to be receptive to others and capture their needs. You have a constructive approach and see opportunities in change.
It is important for the role that you are experienced, confident, and independent in your work. This is because the job requires daily interaction with academic operations at all levels. You are accustomed to taking responsibility for your work, following up with colleagues, and driving issues forward on your own.
The role places high demands on flexibility as the work takes place in a changing and highly complex environment. You can adapt your work and quickly shift gears when conditions change, i.e., make your own decisions to drive projects forward.
You will work closely with people who are technical experts, craftsmen, suppliers, researchers, and professors. It is important to be able to collaborate, listen, discuss, and compromise to find solutions and see opportunities in cooperation to drive the development of our laboratories forward.
