As a Biomedical Analyst within Clinical Pathology, you will process and analyze tissue and cell samples through various manual and instrumental processes to lead the sample to pathological diagnosis. Various organs, tissues, and cell samples are involved, and cancer-related inquiries are not uncommon. The work consists of, for example, embedding, sectioning, and staining of preparations. As a BMA within pathology, you can also work with special tasks such as immunohistochemistry, micro-dissection, molecular pathology, quality management systems, instrument responsibility, and various types of administrative tasks, as we are an accredited department according to ISO 15189:2022.

We at Clinical Pathology are approximately 60 employees who together form a tightly knit team within the Diagnostic Centre, one of Region Kalmar County's most specialized units. Our operation is accredited according to ISO 15189:2022, and we constantly work on improvement projects, including within digital pathology, histology, and molecular pathology.

At the Diagnostic Centre, more than six million analyses, examinations, and treatments are performed annually. Our county-wide operation is located at the hospitals in Kalmar, Oskarshamn, and Västervik.
Here, 260 employees work within the units of clinical pathology, clinical microbiology, clinical chemistry and transfusion medicine, clinical physiology and nuclear medicine, infection control and healthcare hygiene, as well as the biobank and tissue center.
