Do you want to be part of building a completely new PET/CT department while working in a dedicated team of hospital physicists with broad expertise?

We are looking for a hospital physicist specializing in diagnostic medical physics with a primary focus on nuclear medicine. Here, you will have a unique opportunity to help shape a new PET/CT unit at Kalmar County Hospital from the ground up — featuring new cameras, new radiopharmaceuticals, and new workflows. The department is scheduled to launch in autumn 2026, and you will have the chance to become a central part of this effort.

In nuclear medicine, you will work with radiation safety, quality control, and method development for both conventional gamma camera diagnostics and the upcoming PET/CT operations. The work is carried out in close collaboration with doctors, biomedical analysts, radiographers, and radiopharmacists.

In addition to nuclear medicine, you will also work with isotope therapy, and there is an opportunity to contribute to other diagnostic areas such as radiography and MRI physics. We also actively work with emergency preparedness issues related to radiological and nuclear incidents (RN preparedness), an area of growing importance where the hospital physicist's expertise plays a crucial role.

Among our colleagues are experienced specialists in nuclear medicine and radiography physics, and we offer the possibility of specialized training (ST) with local supervision.

Selection and interviews are conducted continuously, and the position may be filled before the application deadline.

About You

We are looking for you who are a licensed hospital physicist, or who will obtain your license shortly. Experience in nuclear medicine or other diagnostic medical physics is advantageous, but we equally welcome those who are at the beginning of their career.

As a person, you are driven. We are looking for someone who takes initiative and responsibility for their own development and contributes positively to the workplace and colleagues. Interest in working in a department under construction, with the ability to handle both clinical daily work and longer-term development projects, is important.

You thrive in close collaboration with colleagues and clinical staff and have the ability to independently plan and drive work forward. You express yourself well in both Swedish and English, both orally and in writing. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

A category B driver's license is required as service travel within the county occurs.
