The duties vary between different workstations within clinical chemistry and transfusion medicine, such as general chemistry, hematology, coagulation, immunochemistry, and blood group serology, pre-analysis, sampling, and dispensing operations. During spring and summer, we also analyze pollen, which we are the only ones doing in our region.
Our operations are a vital part of the healthcare chain, and we operate around the clock. Working hours for the current positions vary between day, evening, night, and weekends.
About you
We are looking for you who are a licensed biomedical scientist or have a similar natural science education. To thrive and succeed in the role of a biomedical scientist, we see that you are a person with high personal maturity and good self-awareness. You work independently, take responsibility for your tasks, and have the ability to adapt to changed conditions and the needs of the operations.
You have good collaboration skills and actively contribute to a positive work climate by building and maintaining good relationships with colleagues, patients, and other partners. You see the big picture, understand how your work affects the operations, and contribute to ensuring high quality in the laboratory's processes.
As a person, you are structured and meticulous with a strong quality awareness. You work systematically and follow routines while having the ability to identify areas for improvement. The role requires good specialist knowledge in laboratory medicine as well as a well-developed analytical ability to interpret, assess, and quality-assure results in a correct and patient-safe manner.

At the Diagnostic Centre, more than six million analyses, examinations, and treatments are performed annually. Our county-wide operations are located at the hospitals in Kalmar, Oskarshamn, and Västervik.
Here, 260 employees work within the units of clinical pathology, clinical microbiology, clinical chemistry and transfusion medicine, clinical physiology and nuclear medicine, infection control and healthcare hygiene, as well as the biobank and tissue centre. We are a scientific competence centre and active in several research areas. Here at the Diagnostic Centre, we perform meaningful, high-quality work and offer good service.
