Opportunity for Nurses in Prehospital Emergency Care!

Working in prehospital emergency care is both meaningful and dynamic. When the alarm sounds, staff must be ready quickly, and each assignment involves a new situation and a new patient. The ability to switch pace, create calm, absorb information, and make well-founded medical decisions is crucial for providing professional care to patients and their relatives.

Prehospital care requires broad competence to offer safe and effective care close to the resident. Assignments can involve patients of all ages and varying conditions — from acute respiratory and circulatory issues to mental health issues, pain conditions, or childbirth-related situations. Assessment, examination, and treatment take place on-site or during transport.

In your daily work, you work closely with your colleague in the ambulance, as well as in collaboration with other professions. Nurse paramedics and ambulance care assistants are part of interprofessional teams together with doctors, rescue services, police, and other vital community actors.

The positions are located in Nybro, which is part of the South Management Area along with Emmaboda and Torsås. This means work may also occur at these stations. The ambulance in Nybro is staffed around the clock, involving shifts during the day, evening, night, and weekends.

About You

We are looking for you who are a registered nurse with experience in patient-facing work and a clear interest in prehospital emergency care. Experience in prehospital care or emergency care is advantageous.

We would like you to have competence in the following training concepts; D-CPR, A-CPR, B-CPR, prehospital medical command, ambulance technology, AMLS, PHTLS, and RETTS. If any of these trainings are missing, you will receive them during your introduction.

You are an experienced driver and hold a B driving license. A C/C1 driving license will be a requirement for employment, and if you do not have it, you will have the license paid for.

The profession requires good physical fitness. To be employed as a nurse in prehospital emergency care, approved physical tests are required, which must also be performed every other year.

Prehospital emergency care in the county includes emergency ambulances, light care ambulances, and a patient transport bus for intermediate care transfers within the county and to the Region Hospital in Linköping. The operation consists of just over 200 employees.

The ambulance station in Nybro belongs to the South Management Area, which also includes Emmaboda and Torsås.

Kalmar County Hospital is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County. The hospital is an acute care hospital with specialist care, maternity care, and neonatal care.
