Nybro Municipality is an expanding municipality in the Småland glass region with approximately 20,000 inhabitants. Here you will find large and small companies, primarily within the glass, wood, and paper industries – several of which are world leaders in their respective fields.

The municipality has a strategic location between the three regional centers of Kalmar, Karlskrona, and Växjö. Communications are good, with railway access and an airport within three miles.

Nybro Municipality's vision is: "With security, curiosity, and innovation, we are building a new bridge to a larger Nybro of the future."

About the Department

The Community Development Administration provides the prerequisites for a sustainable society in change and contributes to ensuring that all residents and businesses in Nybro Municipality can live a good life.

We create plans for Nybro's future, manage the municipality's land and local supply, produce maps, grant building permits, plan and build the city's traffic environment, maintain parks and green areas, operate leisure and sports facilities, ensure a good housing environment, clean premises, prepare meals, and much, much more.

We also provide advice and support to individuals and businesses to help them do the right thing, which is why we conduct supervision in areas such as the environment, food, construction, and traffic. We are a team with mixed ages and different experiences. The tasks are varied, and we work with a high degree of autonomy.

The Environmental and Building Department works with advisory services, customer service, supervision, and regulatory enforcement regarding building permits, housing adaptation, environmental and public health protection, food control, alcohol, tobacco, and medicine control, as well as lottery permits.

The operations are characterized by short decision-making paths, good cohesion, and close collaboration between different competencies. Here you will find dedicated and knowledgeable colleagues who together contribute to lawful, efficient, and service-oriented regulatory enforcement.

Job Description

Your main tasks will be to carry out environmental and public health supervision, for example, on environmentally hazardous operations, contaminated land, and private sewage systems. The tasks may be adapted based on your qualifications and experience, as well as the needs of the operations.

The work also includes other tasks such as processing and investigating various types of incoming cases, as well as providing information and advice to businesses and the general public. The work involves report writing, follow-up, and planning.

We use the EDP Vision Miljö case management system to support our operations.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a university education in environmental and public health supervision or another equivalent education. To thrive with us, we believe you are cooperative, open to working with several areas, helpful, and proactive. You see the development opportunities of the operations and have a strong sense of service towards our citizens.

We would appreciate it if you had previous experience of supervision, case processing, and complaint handling based on the Environmental Code. You have knowledge of working in a politically governed organization and what service-oriented regulatory enforcement entails.

A valid driver's license (Category B) is required.
