We are looking for an engaged Environmental Inspector for Borgholm Municipality
We are now seeking an engaged Environmental Inspector for the Environmental and Building Committee. Here you have the opportunity to combine your service orientation and your knowledge of environmental and public health protection with your ability to create structure and efficiency – while contributing to sustainable development in Borgholm Municipality and on the island of Öland.
About the Workplace
The Environmental and Building Department is part of the Municipal Executive Administration, where you will work together with approximately 25 knowledgeable and engaged colleagues within the administrative unit, building and environmental unit. You will belong to the environmental unit.
Borgholm Municipality is one of the country's most popular places for part-year residence with a large number of holiday homes. During the summer half-year, the population multiplies and a large number of seasonal businesses within the hospitality industry open. There are also many farms here. This means a significant amount of cases regarding building permits, environmental and public health protection, as well as food and catering licenses.
Borgholm Municipality offers high-quality care, social services, and schools, as well as all the community services you need, in an environment of fantastic nature. Life on Öland is a unique combination of city and countryside, where the calm during the winter half-year creates a beautiful contrast to the pulsating summer. Borgholm Municipality is also ranked as one of Sweden's safest municipalities, and many appreciate the convenience and accessibility that life here offers.
Job Responsibilities
As an Environmental Inspector with us, you work broadly within the area of the Environmental Code. You will work with issues within environmental and public health protection, such as private sewage systems, sewage treatment plants, waste, contaminated land, noise, agriculture, and wind power. You will also be involved in nature conservation issues and investigations regarding impact on sensitive land and water environments.
The work is varied and involves planning and conducting supervision visits, writing reports, and performing follow-ups. You independently handle investigations, complaints, as well as notifications and applications. You draft service reports, make decisions on delegation, and present cases to the Environmental and Building Committee.
An important part of the work is to provide advice and information to businesses and the general public.
You always have good support from colleagues and management, while there are good opportunities for development in the work through continuous competence development and participation in projects and networks.
The work is governed, in addition to the Environmental Code, by the Local Government Act, the Administrative Procedure Act, and the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act, which means that you work in a rule-based and meticulous context.
Here you get the chance to become part of a secure and developing work environment where your contribution truly makes a difference!
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a relevant university education in the environmental field, or education and experience that the employer assesses as equivalent. You have good knowledge of the Environmental Code and the Administrative Procedure Act, and preferably experience of authority exercise.
You have good IT skills, and experience with the case management system Ecos is meritorious. You express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and have basic knowledge of English.
As a person, you are responsible, structured, and independent. You are receptive, solution-oriented, and have good collaboration skills. With a non-hierarchical approach, you see it as a matter of course to share your experiences and knowledge.
You are communicative and can adapt to different recipients and purposes in a clear and concrete way. Your treatment is professional and service-oriented.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
A valid Category B driver's license is required.
