As a nurse in the Palliative Consultation Team, you will be part of a county-wide team consisting of nurses and doctors in Kalmar County. The Palliative Consultation Team acts as a supportive resource aimed at all healthcare personnel within the entire care chain in Region Kalmar County, regardless of the patient's diagnosis, age, living situation, or place of residence. The team offers consultation for direct patient cases as well as training in palliative care. A significant part of the work is carried out in the patient's home, together with the patient, relatives, and other caregivers. Consultations are provided via telephone, bedside teaching, and video consultations. Travel within the county by car to visit patients and healthcare providers is common.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, daytime. The placement is in Vimmerby and Hultsfred.

About you

We are looking for you who are an experienced registered nurse with a good ability to work independently. You are good at collaborating, take initiative, and work in a pedagogical manner. You have a strong interest and commitment to palliative care. Experience and education in palliative nursing are meritorious.

Personal suitability is given great weight.

A driver's license is required.

The Department of Palliative Medicine organizes specialized palliative care in Region Kalmar County. We are divided into different units to ensure the possibility of providing high-quality palliative care regardless of the patient's place of residence and care environment.

The consultation teams work together with municipal home healthcare services and district doctors. On Ward 30, we have specialized palliative inpatient care. In our hospital-affiliated home healthcare service, we have specialized palliative home healthcare in Kalmar and the surrounding area.

The palliative care philosophy implies care with a holistic perspective, meaning that physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and existential needs are analyzed and addressed in the care. The purpose of the care is to increase quality of life and reduce suffering despite severe illness and impending death. Our cornerstones are teamwork, communication, support for relatives, and symptom control.

The clinic is constantly developing and has close collaboration with other clinics and healthcare providers.

Kalmar County Hospital is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County. The hospital is an acute care hospital with specialist care, maternity care, and neonatal care. Over 2,300 people work here to offer good care and high patient safety to the county's inhabitants.
