About us

The Economics Department at Chalmers is characterized by professional management of our economic control and economic administration. The function is represented both in the operational work at our 13 subject departments and in the institution-wide leadership with its support functions.

 

This position is located at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, ME, which has just over 400 employees. The economist position is located at one of the department's 11 research divisions.

The operational support at the department is responsible for the administrative support to the department's core activities, i.e., management, teachers, and researchers. This includes, among other things, economy, personnel, research and education administration, as well as support in other administrative matters such as procurement and facilities. We are a common resource for the department and consist of about 30 employees who work to provide the core activities with close and professional support.

As an economist, you have several close economic colleagues to discuss tasks, development issues, and challenges with. You are also part of Chalmers' economics network, where you regularly have the opportunity for competence development, introduction to new developments in the field, and exchange experiences with colleagues at other departments.

What the role entails

Main tasks include:

 

  • being an advisor on economic matters to managers and project leaders
  • ensuring good accounting in accordance with internal and external regulations
  • budgeting, follow-up, forecasting, and analysis of projects and operations
  • economic project reporting to funders
  • participate in the department's budgeting and annual accounting work
  • interpretation of conditions from funders and other contracting parties

We are looking for you who:

  • Have experience of qualified economic work, similar to the tasks described in the advertisement
  • Have experience of accounting, budgeting, and annual accounting work
  • Have experience of working with economic and administrative support systems
  • Have good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish and English

It is an advantage if you also have:

  • Documented experience of having responsibility for the entire economic process
  • Experience of project reporting
  • Experience of qualified economic work within higher education/university
  • Have experience of EU accounting
  • Experience of working with the support systems Raindance and Hypergene
