Our Operations

The HR Centre is part of the HR Department and consists of approximately 30 dedicated employees. Our main tasks are to work consultatively and service-oriented within payroll administration, pension processing, and the management and development of Uppsala County Council's HR systems.
At the Payroll Unit, we are responsible for handling over 16,000 payrolls every month. We play a crucial role in ensuring that the correct salary is paid out on time and that our operations receive professional support in matters concerning salaries and allowances.
Your Role
As a Payroll Consultant, you work broadly across the entire payroll process and serve as a key support to the operations you are responsible for within Uppsala County Council. In this role, you provide qualified service and advice on matters such as employment, salaries, allowances, and absence.
You are responsible for payroll management for employees with both regular and irregular working hours, including on-call duty and standby. The work also involves contact with external actors and authorities, as well as ensuring that payroll management is conducted in accordance with current laws, agreements, and guidelines.
As a Payroll Consultant, you are part of a dedicated team where collaboration, knowledge sharing, and development are a natural part of daily life. You will also have the opportunity to participate in projects, development initiatives, and other operational development groups where you contribute to improving and streamlining our methods and processes.
In this role, you combine operational work with a consultative approach and contribute to creating the prerequisites for quality-assured and legally secure payroll management for Uppsala County Council's operations.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a few years of experience working as a Payroll Consultant or other experience that the employer considers equivalent. You have completed a vocational higher education (YH) program as a Payroll Consultant or have acquired corresponding knowledge through work experience.
It is an advantage if you have experience working according to the collective agreement "General Provisions" (AB) and if you have previously worked in the payroll system Heroma.
Your Competencies
We are looking for you who thrive in a role with varied tasks and enjoy taking personal responsibility. You have a genuine interest in providing good service and are driven by helping others by finding solutions and creating value in your work.
You adapt easily to changing circumstances, see opportunities in change, and can handle periods of high workload in a structured manner. As a person, you are calm, methodical, and solution-oriented, with a good ability to prioritize and work independently.
You actively contribute to a positive work climate and find it easy to create and develop good relationships. You collaborate well with others and have a professional and pedagogical approach in both oral and written communication. You express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and have the ability to adapt your message to the recipient and situation.
We value good treatment, patience, and a high degree of teamwork. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.
We Offer
A full-time permanent position with a start date as agreed. Probationary employment may apply. You will have the opportunity to work remotely 1–2 days per week after completing the introduction.
As an employer, we want to create conditions for our employees to do well, so that they can feel secure and have quality in life outside of work. In addition to having one of Sweden's best collective agreements, we offer subsidized UL tickets and a favorable wellness allowance.
