The Arjeplog-Arvidsjaur parish covers two congregations with approximately 8,700 inhabitants. We operate in a part of the country characterized by calm, safety, freedom, and one of the lowest crime rates in the country. Here, several cultures and languages meet, and you are always close to mountains, forests, and lakes. The parish is located within the forest and mountain Sámi area, where the proximity to Sámi culture reflects part of the parish's activities.

Worship life is lively and varied, with nine churches and chapels – from central towns to mountain environments. Music and choir activities are an important part of congregational life, and throughout the year, the church meets people in many different contexts: in churches, villages, homes, and institutions.

About You

We are looking for you who are ordained and qualified to serve as vicar (parish priest). You have experience or education in leadership and operational responsibility. As a person, you are confident in your leadership and, in your role as a priest, build trust and good relationships. You have a structured approach and see opportunities in the conditions of rural life.

Experience or education in change management is meritorious.

About the Position

Within the framework of the vicar's overall responsibility, there is an organization with support resources and structure, providing good conditions for delegating tasks and creating balance between the different parts of leadership.

As vicar, you are both a leader and a shepherd. You bear overall responsibility for operations, employees, and development, doing so in close interaction with elected officials, employees, and volunteer workers. You lead through dialogue and clarity, contributing to a work climate where there is structure, trust, and room to grow.

Our ambition is to enable a present leadership in the congregation's life and core mission, while administrative and organizational parts are handled through a sensible division of responsibility and support within the organization.

This is a role where we see opportunities rather than ready-made templates. For the right person, there is openness regarding how the work is shaped, with respect for the church order's responsibilities and mission. This may, for example, involve how certain parts are organized and which support resources are used, to create good conditions for both leading and being present in what is core to the mission.

The parish office is located in Arvidsjaur, and pool cars are available for work-related travel. You have the opportunity to live where suits you best within the parish, and we offer support in connection with relocation.
