The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency carries out operations around the world. We are now looking for a Project Manager with a focus on operational coordination for the Section for Peace, Security, and Resilience Operations.
Your responsibilities and tasks
As a Project Manager with a focus on operational coordination, you have a cohesive and coordinating responsibility for operations within international missions. You support the Section Head in the overall planning, coordination, implementation, development, and follow-up of the section's operational activities. You are also expected to take responsibility for ensuring that the Agency's work in international development cooperation is cohesive, consistent, and of high quality. You must ensure operational coordination, prioritization, lessons learned, and contribute to clear results-based management of the operations.
You have a coordinating responsibility, acting as both a sounding board and a coach to the employees in the section, and contributing to a balanced workload. You support by creating connections between ongoing operations and by creating strategic links to new operations. You are expected to provide ongoing support to colleagues on issues that arise in operational activities. In this role, you are expected to be able to step in and relieve or support project managers or subject matter experts in all phases of the operations if needed. You are also expected to support the overall implementation and follow-up of operations according to the guidelines set by the Agency, the funder, or partners. Other common tasks at the overarching unit level may occur.
In your role, you are expected to contribute to creating a good work climate within the section and contribute to the positive development of the operations. You are expected to act proactively and be able to represent the Agency in various external contexts and establish good relationships with external funders, other authorities, as well as bilateral partners and international actors within the EU, UN, etc. You will also have extensive contact with other sections, units, and departments and are expected to contribute to the development of the Agency's operational mandate.
You are expected to participate actively in the section's management group to develop and drive the work of improving operational activities and to plan both the strategic and daily work in the section.
Your knowledge and competencies
We are looking for you who have:
- Relevant academic education or equivalent knowledge that the employer finds equal.
- Experience from working in a leadership position and a coaching approach to work.
- Current and multi-year experience of initiating, driving, and following up operations and/or project work within an authority.
- Experience of international development cooperation.
- Experience of operational and process development.
- Experience of coordinating projects and personnel resources.
- Very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
It is meritorious if you have:
- Knowledge of integrating cross-cutting issues such as gender equality and environment.
- Experience of procurement of goods and services.
- Knowledge in facilitating learning.
- Experience of coordinating operations – internally and externally.
- Experience of partnership development with international organizations/projects.
- Experience of initiating and securing external funding, for example from Sida or the EU.

About the employment
We offer you a fixed-term full-time employment for 11 months with the possibility of extension.
Your place of work will be Karlstad or Stockholm, and travel during the employment will be extensive. On-call duty may be included in the employment, which means working outside normal office hours.
The majority of our positions involve placement in a security class. Swedish citizenship is usually required. For placement in a security class, a security investigation with register check will be conducted before employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Most employees at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency are war-placed.
About us
At the Section for Peace, Security, and Resilience Operations, we are about 20 employees, and we are located in both Karlstad and Stockholm. The section's task is to decide on, guide, develop, and lead international peace-promoting and resilience operations.
We have an activity-based office where you can choose your workplace according to your own needs. You may also have the opportunity to work remotely to some extent. We also offer you the opportunity to take out wellness hours, and you will receive a wellness allowance. For you as a state employee, there are also favorable holiday conditions.
