Your Role

As a System Test Engineer, you work on verifying and validating control systems for advanced combat aircraft systems. This role requires analytical skills, precision, and technical curiosity. The position gives you insight into the entire chain, from requirements to a verified combat aircraft system.

Specifically, this involves:

• Planning and conducting tests via desktop simulations and in full-scale flight simulators—with the opportunity to fly as part of the job
• Analyzing test data to ensure the control system is safe and meets established requirements
• Compiling technical analysis through formal test reports
• Developing own tools in Python and other environments for analysis and data processing
• Collaborating with test pilots and other technical disciplines in a flight-safety-critical context

You will become part of a tight-knit team of 15-18 engineers characterized by strong cohesion. Here, we help each other, share knowledge openly, and encourage questioning and testing new ideas. This isn't just talk—it's something you'll notice in your first week.

Depending on what drives you, there are clear paths forward:

• Test Leadership - take responsibility for planning and execution of larger test programs
• Tool Development & Methodology - specialize in how testing is conducted, build the tools we all use, and apply AI where it makes us smarter and faster
• Requirements Management & Systems Engineering - go broader and deeper into system understanding
• Project Management - lead your own technical projects within the Flight Technology area

Regardless of where you are in your career, we offer a clear progression from junior to expert, supported by a structured framework for competence development.

Your Profile

We are looking for you who are a Civil Engineer or University College Engineer, preferably in Systems Engineering, Technical Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Medical Technology, or similar. Experience level is not decisive—we value the right person over the number of years.

We are particularly interested if you identify with some of the points below:

• Programming in Python, experience with Linux, Git, Matlab, and LaTeX
• Knowledge of numerical methods and data analysis
• Interest in or practical experience with AI and machine learning
• Flight certificate or a genuine interest in aviation
• Experience in requirements management or project management

Having not studied aviation-related courses at university is no obstacle—we offer the opportunity for basic training in areas such as aerodynamics and flight mechanics.

You master Swedish and English in both speech and writing.

The position requires you to undergo and pass security clearance according to current regulations. For positions where Saab requires security classification, this may, in some cases, entail citizenship requirements.
