In connection with a new organizational and management structure, we are now looking for 2 Group Managers for the External Production unit. The roles offer an opportunity to combine leadership with business development in a complex technical environment where collaboration, development, and continuous improvement are in focus. External Production is the link between BAE Systems Hägglunds in Örnsköldsvik and our cooperation partners in respective customer countries to deliver complete vehicles.

Your future challenge

The department is responsible for evaluating, preparing, supporting, following up, and developing external manufacturing in close cooperation with our suppliers and partners.

The External Production department currently consists of approximately 45 colleagues and is divided into two sub-areas: MEK (Mechanical) and El/System (Electrical/System). The group consists of both permanent employees and consultants.

As Group Manager for MEK, you are responsible for a group consisting of approximately 25 production engineers within the MEK area.

As Group Manager for El/System, you are responsible for approximately 10 system engineers and approximately 10 production engineers within the Electrical area.

The roles involve many contact points both externally with our production partners and suppliers, as well as internally with several different competence areas within both production, design, and our purchasing organization. You have overall responsibility for the group's delivery capability, development, and working environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing the group, including recruitment, onboarding, salary setting, employee interviews, working environment, and individual development.
  • Leading, prioritizing, and distributing the group's work to fulfill delivery responsibilities in projects.
  • Ensuring competence supply through strategic competence planning, development of existing employees, and introduction of new employees and consultants.
  • Driving business development and continuous improvements to increase the group's delivery capability, including identifying and escalating needs for IT tools and other supporting solutions.
  • Responsible for monitoring the group's goals, key performance indicators, and resource utilization, as well as contributing to the department's planning and budgeting.
  • Supporting project managers within Operations (OPM) with Tech transfer planning and implementation.
  • Assisting partners and suppliers with competence supply, personnel profiles, and planning of technical support during the establishment and scaling up of external production.

The position also involves travel to our partners in customer countries.

The person you are

We are looking for you who have experience in leadership, preferably for engineers or technical specialists. You enjoy leading, coaching, and developing both individuals and teams towards common goals.

We would like you to have:

  • An engineering or other relevant technical education, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience from production, industrialization, production engineering, or similar.
  • Good ability to plan, prioritize, and structure both your own and the group's daily work.
  • Interest in business development and experience in driving and implementing improvement work.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Experience from the automotive or defense industry and knowledge of vehicle systems.
  • Experience working in an international environment and together with external partners/suppliers.

As a person, you are:

  • Proactive, communicative, and clear in your leadership.
  • Collaborative and enjoy building relationships both internally and externally.
  • Confident in the role of manager and accustomed to handling both operational issues and long-term development.

As we work in an international environment, you need to have good knowledge of both Swedish and English, in speech and writing.
