About the workplace

Do you want to make a concrete difference for young people in Ale Municipality?

This autumn 2026, Ale Municipality is strengthening efforts aimed at young people aged 16 to 29 who, for various reasons, are far from studies, work, or other established employment. The goal is to create better opportunities for the next step through coordinated efforts, individual support, and new forms of collaboration.

The initiative will also develop collaboration between Ale Municipality, the Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen), Vuxenskolan Väst Adult Education Association, and municipal operations within education and the labor market.

The work is based at the Learning Center in Alafors, in close proximity to adult education and upper secondary school. Here, competencies are gathered to offer consolidated support to young people based on their individual needs.

We work in a small team consisting of a project manager, an education and job coach, you as a pedagogical coach, and a study and career counselor. Together, we develop working methods that combine individual support, group activities, and collaboration with other actors.

Job Responsibilities

As a youth coach, you play a central role in the daily work with participants. You work closely with young individuals and are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on efforts that strengthen their path toward studies or work.

The role is independent and relationship-oriented, while you are part of a team where efforts are planned and developed together with the project manager and other functions.

Responsibilities include, among other things:

  • Conduct individual conversations, assessments, and coaching efforts.
  • Support young people in identifying goals, needs, and the next steps toward studies or work.
  • Plan and conduct group activities and support measures.
  • Work proactively to reach young people who are not in studies or employment.
  • Collaborate with other actors such as the Swedish Public Employment Service, social services, adult education, and other relevant parties.
  • Document and follow up on individuals' progress together with the project team.
  • Participate in joint planning, development, and follow-up of the project's efforts.

The role involves significant personal responsibility in the operational work with participants, but the budget, overall planning, and project structure are led by the project manager.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Upper secondary education and experience working with young people or adults in need of support within at least one of the following areas:
    • Youth far from studies or work.
    • Neurodevelopmental disorders (NPF) or mental health issues.
    • Problematic school absenteeism or KAA (Municipal Adapted Activity).
    • Adult education or labor market initiatives.
    • Social work, coaching, or motivational work.
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
  • Good digital competence.

Merits:

  • Experience working in the areas mentioned above.
  • Teaching degree, special educational needs degree, or study and career counseling degree.
  • Experience collaborating between several actors around the individual (e.g., SIP).

We view diverse life experiences positively and particularly value experiences that provide understanding of young people's living conditions and paths to studies and work.

You have a good ability to motivate and support others and thrive in a role where you work closely with the individual and adapt efforts to needs.

Other Information

The position is a fixed-term project employment with a start in August, ending on December 18, 2026.

Scope: 75–100% as agreed.

Location: Learning Center in Alafors, Ale Municipality.
