At the Traffic Planning and Regulation Unit, we are a group of dedicated employees looking forward to welcoming a new colleague who wants to strengthen our team! We are part of the Street and Traffic Department within the Urban Development Administration, and our unit is responsible for both short- and long-term planning regarding public spaces, traffic systems, traffic safety, and infrastructure. Our tasks include developing and implementing action plans based on political decisions, as well as monitoring and evaluating our work. We are also responsible for some outward-facing activities towards citizens and businesses regarding matters within our area of responsibility. One of our most important tasks is to influence the traffic system to meet our ambitious climate goals.

We work normal office hours in the City Hall, located centrally in Uppsala near the Central Station. There is an opportunity for remote work a few days a week.

Description of Duties

As a Traffic Planner, you will independently drive investigations regarding traffic issues at various levels, participate in the administration's work with action plans and programs, monitor the external environment, and lead projects of various kinds. You will be responsible for traffic investigations and ensure that the municipality's visions and goals for sustainable mobility and urban development are met.

The work is both at a strategic level and from a shorter-term planning perspective. In this position, you will be, among other things, the responsible traffic planner in certain detailed plans in large new construction projects, such as Södra Staden.

You will work with traffic and mobility issues from a holistic perspective. One of the main tasks is to participate in the work on the development of the traffic network over time to achieve good accessibility for all modes of transport. The tasks include implementing the approved Traffic Network Plan.

Qualifications

For this position, we see you as someone with a university education in the field of urban planning, for example as an urban planner or a civil engineer in road and water, or other education that the employer deems relevant for the position. The position requires several years of experience working with traffic planning in urban development projects. You also have experience with large projects related to infrastructure and procurement. Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 is important.

A prerequisite for the position is good reading and writing skills in Swedish, as well as a B-driver's license. Experience of working with traffic issues in public administration is meritorious. Experience of working with traffic issues in detailed plans in large urban development projects is also meritorious.

You have the ability to make quick decisions and act accordingly, even with limited information or difficult circumstances. You show good judgment under time pressure.

Uppsala Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting according to the current collective agreement.

In your application, you must state your citizenship. Employment can only take place after verification of the work permit, as required by the Aliens Ordinance.

Employment with Uppsala Municipality may involve being placed on war footing (krigsplacering).

Salary Form: Monthly salary.
