Project Buyer
We are currently looking for an experienced and driven Project Buyer for our client, who will take overall responsibility for material supply in our NPI (New Product Introduction) projects – from the early stages to handover to mass production.
About the role
As a Project Buyer, you are a central part of our project teams and are primarily responsible for securing and driving material supply for our customers' projects and prototypes.
You work at the interface between project management, sourcing, production engineering, production, quality – as well as in dialogue with the customer regarding material-related issues that affect project implementation.
You will join early in the industrialization phase, where you can contribute to supplier strategy and quotation work – although the primary focus will be on securing materials for the project's production start. The focus area will be prototypes, i.e., small series with rapid iterations and often quick changes. The role covers both standard materials (COTS) and customer-specific items such as PCBs, mechanics, cabling, and other project-specific components.
During the project, you handle a dynamic environment where changes in design, volumes, and conditions are a natural part of the process. You monitor material status, identify risks, and drive actions – both internally and together with suppliers. At the same time, you may occasionally become involved in dialogues with the customer regarding material selection, availability, and potential alternatives, with the goal of creating the best possible holistic solution for the project.
As the project approaches mass production, you are responsible for ensuring a stable foundation – where suppliers, prices, lead times, and material flows are established. You drive a structured handover to operational purchasing so that production can continue without disruption.
The role requires a structured approach, but also a high degree of flexibility and adaptability to handle the changes that arise in the project environment.
Our client is looking for someone who thrives in a changing environment with constant activity. You are offered challenging work that demands a wide range of skills.
Your main responsibilities
- Ensure material supply throughout the entire NPI process
- Responsible for sourcing (based on existing supplier strategies) and RFQ work for both COTS and customer-specific items, in prototype, pre-series, and prior to mass production.
- Secure price, lead times, and delivery capability in projects
- Identify and manage material risks and drive alternative solutions
- Work closely with production engineering, production, and quality in material and supplier selection
- Participate in dialogue with the customer on material-related issues
- Build a robust material structure prior to mass production
- Responsible for a clear and high-quality handover to operational purchasing
Your profile
The client is looking for you if you are communicative, structured, and thrive in a role where you can combine business acumen with technical understanding and project work.
You have:
- At least 5 years of experience in purchasing
- Experience working in projects or in close collaboration in a cross-functional environment
- Understanding of material flows and supplier collaboration
- Ability to work structured while being flexible and adaptable
- Strong communication skills, both internally, with suppliers, and with customers
- Ability to express yourself business-like in both Swedish and English, orally and in writing
- A technical interest and curiosity to understand products and manufacturing processes
- A drive to develop purchasing processes, especially within the industrialization phase
Meritorious qualifications
- Experience in project purchasing within self-developed or customer-specific products
- Experience in purchasing PCBs, mechanics, cabling, or similar components
- Habit of working closely with suppliers during the industrialization phase
What we offer
With us, you get a key role in our projects where you influence both working methods and results – from the early project phase to stable mass production. You become part of a business where collaboration, responsibility, and development are in focus.
The workplace is located in Norrtälje, and the position is full-time.
We look forward to receiving your application!
