The Department of Finance and Procurement is part of Uppsala University's central administration and is responsible for ensuring that the university's consolidated financial reporting and monitoring are fair and accurate. One of the main tasks is to provide advice and support to the university's departments and divisions within the financial administrative area, as well as to create conditions for high-quality financial information to facilitate decision-making within and outside the university.

We are now looking for an Accountant for the Accounting Unit. In this role, you will work in close collaboration with colleagues within the unit and department, as well as throughout the organization, to contribute to the development and quality assurance of the university's accounting. The role offers a broad network and good opportunities for professional development.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities include, among other things:

• Ongoing accounting and year-end closing work
• Monitoring and internal control to ensure correct and fair reporting
• Support and advice to operational accountants
• Development and improvement of processes and routines
• Planning, development, and implementation of internal training initiatives
• Environmental scanning and updates regarding state regulations

Qualifications

• A university degree in economics or equivalent education as assessed by the employer.
• At least three years of experience in qualified accounting work
• Good knowledge of Excel and experience working with various IT and financial systems
• Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both written and verbal

Desirable/Additional Qualifications

• Experience working in the higher education sector, public sector, or other large organizations
• Knowledge of state regulations
• Experience in development and improvement work, such as process development or digitalization.
• Experience and interest in creating instructions, guidelines, and other documentation

About the Position

The position is permanent, with a probationary period possibly applicable. The position is full-time (100%). Start date by agreement. Location: Uppsala.
