The Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management (HaV) drives and coordinates the work for living seas, lakes, and waterways on behalf of the government, for the present and future generations.

With just over 350 dedicated employees, we create an inspiring workplace where we generate societal benefit and make a difference – for the environment and the future.

The Marine Management Division is responsible for coordinating and developing Sweden's work with the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive, as well as marine planning and other maritime issues. The division is also responsible for fisheries issues, both national management and implementing the EU's Common Fisheries Policy in Sweden. We collaborate closely with other divisions within the agency and with external actors, working with ecosystem-based management from source to sea.

At the Marine Environment Unit, 17 people work with, among other things, Sweden's implementation of the Marine Environment Ordinance and the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive, including action programmes, preliminary assessments, regulations, guidelines, and EU reporting. The mandate also includes supporting the government in the EU's joint implementation strategy for marine environment management. Read more at Havochvatten.se/organisation
