Your Responsibilities

The role of teacher in mathematics and biology for grades 7–9 involves overall responsibility for planning, implementing, and evaluating teaching based on the current curriculum (Lgr22). You adapt your pedagogy to the varying needs of the student group and create a structured, challenging, and developmental learning environment.

In this position, you will also have a unique and exciting development assignment. Together with some colleagues, you will work on launching a math workshop aimed at grade 7. The purpose is to improve the school's math results by applying successful strategies and research on how students perceive their own math capacity. The goal is to create a positive feeling about the subject so that students maintain their motivation and feel secure regarding their final grades in grade 9.

The role includes the following tasks:

• You are responsible for teaching mathematics and biology for grades 7–9, including planning, assessment, and grading.
• You lead and develop a newly started math workshop together with colleagues to strengthen students' mathematical self-confidence.
• You vary teaching methods and use digital tools as a natural part of daily teaching.
• You share mentorship for a grade 7 class with a colleague, which means a joint responsibility for the students' study situation, safety, and well-being.
• You collaborate regularly with other teachers, guardians, and the school's student health team to create optimal conditions for each student.
• You actively contribute to the school's collegial learning and work to enhance and develop the shared working environment.

Your Workplace

Ekholms School is a grades 7–9 school in the southern districts of Linköping. The school has approximately 400 students, including a special education group. We also have a resource school focused on autism. 60 employees work at the school, most of whom are teaching teachers. The school has a full complement of Student Health Team (SHT) members with our three full-time mentors. The primary school also shares the building with an adapted primary school.

Who You Are

We are primarily looking for you who have a teacher certification with eligibility to teach mathematics and biology in grades 7–9. Secondarily, we are looking for you with a completed teacher education for grades 7–9. Alternatively, you are at the end of your teacher education for grades 7–9.

It is a requirement that you have experience working in a curriculum-based school through practice or employment. It is meritorious if you have taught in grades 7–9 for at least one academic year. It is also meritorious if you have experience with grading or alternatively documenting student learning during the academic year.

In your role as a teacher in grades 7–9, you have good knowledge of the school's mission and are well acquainted with the curriculum (Lgr22) and other regulatory documents. You have good communicative skills in speech and writing in the Swedish language. This is because, according to the curriculum (Lgr22), you must organize and carry out work so that the student receives support in their language and communication development. You are responsible for ensuring that each student can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.

As a teacher, you are a good role model. You have the ability to adapt your teaching to the students and allow them to participate in the design of the teaching. In a quality-conscious way, you create good conditions for the student's development and learning and document this. You collaborate well with colleagues, guardians, and other contacts in society that occur in your professional role.
