Your responsibilities

As a music teacher in grades 7-9, you have one of the school's most fun and creative assignments. You plan, implement, and evaluate music education based on the curriculum (Lgr22). At Ekholmsskolan, we have chosen to organize the teaching so that you meet students in smaller groups instead of whole classes, which gives you fantastic opportunities to see each individual student, adapt the teaching, and create a good study environment. The position also involves mentorship in a class.

We place extra emphasis on ensuring you have a secure start with us. If you are new to the profession or new to the school, you will receive a structured introduction with support from our lead teachers to help you settle into the teacher role and our routines. You also share music rooms with the music teacher at the adapted primary school, and here there are good opportunities for a rewarding and unpretentious collaboration in everyday life – where you can bounce pedagogical ideas off each other, support one another, and plan common traditions or school graduations based on interest.

Your main responsibilities:

• Plan and conduct stimulating, varied, and challenging music education where you find strategies to motivate, engage, and include all students.
• Work actively with mentorship and create safe relationships with students and guardians by being an adult who inspires trust inside and outside the classroom.
• Use digital tools as a natural part of the pedagogical learning environment.

Your workplace

Ekholmsskolan is a grades 7-9 school in the southern districts of Linköping. The school has approx. 400 students, including a special education group and a resource school with a focus on autism. 60 staff members work at the school, most of whom are teaching teachers. The school has a full-time Student Health Team (SHT) with our three full-time mentors. The primary school also shares the building with the adapted primary school.

You who apply

We are primarily looking for you who have a teaching license with eligibility to teach music in grades 7-9. Secondarily, we are looking for you with a completed teacher education for grades 7-9. Alternatively, you are at the end of your education to become a teacher in grades 7-9.

It is a requirement that you have experience of working in a curriculum-driven school through practice or as an employee. It is meritorious if you have taught in grades 7-9 for at least one school year. It is also meritorious if you have experience of grading or alternatively documenting student learning during the school year.

To succeed and thrive as a music teacher in grades 7-9 at a secondary school, you need to be a calm person with great patience. You have the ability to inspire trust and possess strategies to motivate and include even those students who may feel hesitant about the music subject. You are quality-conscious and a good role model who collaborates well with both colleagues and guardians.

In your role as a teacher in grades 7-9, you have good knowledge of the school's mission and are well acquainted with the curriculum (Lgr22) and other regulatory documents. You have good communicative skills in speech and writing in the Swedish language. This is because, according to the curriculum (Lgr22), you must organize and carry out the work so that the student receives support in their language and communication development. You are responsible for ensuring that each student can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.

As a teacher, you are a good role model. You have the ability to adapt your teaching to the students and let them participate in the design of the teaching. In a quality-conscious way, you create good conditions for the student's development and learning and document this. You collaborate well with colleagues, guardians, and other contacts in society that occur in your professional role.
