Assistant Nurse for Orthopedic Ward, Umeå

The Center for Musculoskeletal Disorders in Umeå is responsible for Orthopedics in the northern healthcare region, which covers the four northernmost counties. The Center is divided into the sections Arthro and Tumor, Faktum, Trauma, and Spine, all of which perform thousands of patient visits, treatments, and operative procedures annually.
The Center for Musculoskeletal Disorders in Umeå is a University Healthcare Unit (USVE) where research and student supervision are a natural part of clinical daily life. The unit includes a clinic, inpatient ward, day surgery unit, administrative unit, and an orthopedic technical center. Our care is characterized by a holistic approach where many different professional categories collaborate for the best results, with the vision of keeping Norrland on its feet and in motion.
The Orthopedic Ward has close collaboration with Umeå University through our newly opened clinical education department. Education of students and employees is close to our hearts, and through the new department, we achieve a unique blend of highly specialized care and clinical education. About the Position
We are now looking for an Assistant Nurse for our inpatient ward. There are 3 positions available.
Responsibilities
As an Assistant Nurse with us, you contribute knowledge and engagement that make people feel safe. You work closely with the patient and support them in functions that need assistance, always aiming to preserve their autonomy.
We work in fast-paced care chains where mobilization and a quick return to previous life activities are sought after surgery. As an Assistant Nurse, you perform standard duties for an acute care ward, such as:
- Mobilization
- Daily nursing care
- Monitoring vital signs
- Wound care
- Sample collection, etc.
Among us, Assistant Nurses play a vital and clear role in the nursing team, and your work contributes to patient-safe care of good quality. To coordinate daily nursing care, we have introduced a nursing leader in each team who follows up on tasks and participates in rounds. Working hours are day, evening, weekend, and night shifts according to operational needs.
Qualifications
We are looking for you with a completed Assistant Nurse education. Since "Assistant Nurse" is a protected title, you must provide a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen), or alternatively, an employment certificate that qualifies you under the transitional provisions of the National Board of Health and Welfare, allowing you to use the title until June 30, 2033.
You are responsible and thrive in an environment with varying tasks and changing intensity. You have good communication skills in speech and writing and enjoy working both independently and in teams. We value teamwork, initiative, flexibility, and attention to detail. You are good at prioritizing what is most important in the moment and have the ability to maintain focus on the task.
