About the School

Practical Gymnasium in Nacka offers students a concept where theory is interspersed with practical exercises both at school and at workplaces. At Practical, we hold ourselves to high standards to create the best conditions for a educational and enjoyable education. Our teaching is characterized by flexibility, proximity, and practical learning. Our program offerings include: Childcare and Leisure, Construction and Infrastructure, Electricity and Energy, Hairdressing and Barbering, Vehicles and Transport, Sales and Service, Plumbing and Real Estate, Care and Nursing, as well as introductory programs. Currently, the school has approximately 530 students and about 50 employees.

We offer only apprenticeship training or apprenticeship-like training, and APL (Workplace-based Learning) is a large part of our work. We are a school where all staff collaborate to ensure students reach their goals, and for the past 14 years, approximately 95% of our students have gone directly into jobs every year. All students study entrepreneurship and run UF companies in year 3. International APL is also offered to students, as well as the opportunity for teachers to job shadow in another country within the Erasmus project.

We have chosen to prioritize a well-developed student health service with 5 special needs teachers/special educators and 5 full-time mentors.

The school is located in Nacka Strand, close to both commuter ferries/Waxholm boats and buses from Slussen as well as Älta/Tyresö/Haninge.

Your Role

The position is a full-time (100%) holiday cover position starting on 13/8-26. You will teach English Level 1 and potentially Level 2, and together with another English teacher, you will be part of a team consisting of both vocational teachers and core subject teachers, as well as a special needs teacher and a full-time mentor. Together with your colleague, you will teach across all programs as we have fully mixed groups in the common upper secondary subjects. We see you as an important and driving force to develop both the subject and the teaching, with the students in focus and in collaboration with colleagues. We communicate primarily through StudyBee, and we work in both Schoolsoft and Google environments through sharing digital documents, calendars, and plans.

Your Profile

We are looking for you who are a certified upper secondary teacher in English. Perhaps you are a recent graduate? Or perhaps you have several years of experience. We place great importance on personal qualities. We value your ability to meet students based on their knowledge and needs, and that you identify with our values and keywords. Our students are eager to enter the working life, and your biggest task is to guide them there!
