Endoscopy Unit is looking for a Nursing Assistant

The Endoscopy Unit is part of the surgical clinic and serves the entire region with endoscopic examinations and minor surgical procedures. We have our own operating room and recovery ward where we care for patients after procedures. Patients come from home as well as from other departments within the hospital.

We perform a wide range of endoscopic examinations, including colonoscopies, gastroscopies, cystoscopies, ERCP, and EVL. The examinations are carried out in teams consisting of a nursing assistant, nurse, and doctor, or a scrub nurse. In our operating room, we primarily perform pacemaker and venous port insertions, as well as other minor surgical procedures such as inguinal hernia and varicose vein surgeries. Here, our own operating room nurses work together with a general nurse, nursing assistant, and surgeon to ensure a safe and efficient care process.

At our Endoscopy Unit, approximately 20 employees work. It is a safe and experienced group with low staff turnover. Two-thirds of the staff are nurses and one-third are nursing assistants. Many have worked here for a long time, which contributes to a stable and positive work environment where new employees quickly feel welcome and secure.

We have a good work climate with high satisfaction and an open collaborative climate where everyone contributes to the development of the operations. The workplace is structured and well-planned with daily check-in meetings and regular pulse measurements to monitor the work environment. We work in close collaboration with other professional groups, which contributes to an efficient and safe care process. The patient is always at the center, and nursing assistants are a central part of the daily work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Working as a nursing assistant at the Endoscopy Unit means a varied and technically stimulating job in a highly specialized environment. You will become an important part of a structured team with a focus on collaboration where the patient is always at the center.

The role includes among other things:

Assist with various types of examinations, such as colonoscopy and gastroscopy, including patient positioning and handling of medical-technical equipment.
Provide support and security to the patient before, during, and after the examination through clear information and a calm approach.
Be responsible for pre- and postoperative care, including monitoring vital parameters on the recovery unit.
Work with advanced medical-technical equipment with high precision and follow current hygiene routines.

To ensure you feel secure in your role, we offer a thorough introduction of approximately six to eight weeks, adapted to your individual needs. The introduction is divided into different phases: colonoscopy clinic, gastroscopy clinic, cystoscopy clinic, and the recovery unit, and includes regular reflections together with supervisors and managers. After the introduction, you will never work alone, but will always have a colleague by your side at the clinic or recovery unit.

Here, you will have the opportunity to learn a completely new and unique role. The work is exciting and varied, with elements of monitoring, technical equipment, and close patient contact. You will assist with examinations, take care of patients, and contribute to a constantly developing operation.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for the position, you must be a trained nursing assistant and have experience working in a hospital environment.

You work in a structured manner, follow clear processes, and have good ability to collaborate with different professional categories.
You contribute to a positive work climate and are solution-oriented, which allows you to safely handle changes in daily work.
The work requires that you are secure in your encounters with patients, have a calm and trustworthy approach, and the ability to create security.
You need to be independent, have good collaboration skills, and be able to take responsibility in a varied daily life.
You need to be able to stand and walk a lot during the workday, as the work requires physical presence at examinations and patient-close moments.
It is meritorious if you have experience with monitoring and work with medical technical equipment. We also appreciate that you have an interest in the technical and medical technical field.
