Do you want to work hands-on with patients in close collaboration within a multidisciplinary team? Do you want to be part of a dynamic work environment characterized by interprofessional learning, where we learn with, from, and about each other? Do you want to work through the entire care pathway for patients with neurological conditions, from acute treatment in the emergency department to intermediate care and ward care?
Then apply to us in Northern Europe's most modern healthcare building, where we have been working since the move on September 15th last year and continue to develop the operations together.
Currently, neurological inpatient care and neurological services are in a dynamic phase, and you will have the opportunity to be part of and influence this development.
- We have introduced a development program called the Competency and Service Model (career path) for nurses, allowing you to alternate between clinical work and education.
- In September 2025, we moved to the new and modern healthcare building, New Malmö Hospital, with new technology that opens up more opportunities to improve care and our working environment.
- The Neurology Department actively participates in international research, and new treatment methods are being introduced.
- Within the neurology operational area, several fields of nationally highly specialized care are conducted.
- On our units, we are in an exciting phase of developing person-centered care in collaboration with Lund University.
We consist of the Neurology Intermediate Care Unit and the Neurology Ward, where we collaborate to offer our employees the career path and development they seek. The most common diagnoses on both units are acute stroke, epilepsy, traumatic brain injuries, and neuromuscular diseases. We care about your work environment and place great emphasis on competence supply and education, where we hold regular lectures.
On the Neurology Intermediate Care Unit, patients with acute neurological conditions requiring extra monitoring and more advanced care, including advanced respiratory care, are treated. We are one of the few units at Skåne University Hospital (SUS) that treats patients with tracheostomies. The Neurology Intermediate Care Unit has eight care beds, including thrombolysis beds. Each team cares for three to four patients and consists of one nurse and one assistant nurse. Most patients are admitted via the Emergency Department, but we also receive patients from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and other units within SUS.
On the Neurology Ward, we have 18 care beds distributed across three teams. The staffing is balanced, with both nurses and assistant nurses, and there is flexibility to change depending on the workload. You are an important part of the ward's future development. On the Neurology Ward, we provide care to patients who have a lower level of supervision and are more stable in their condition. Most patients are admitted via the Neurology Intermediate Care Unit, the Emergency Department, and the Acute Care Ward.

Job Responsibilities
You work in a multidisciplinary team together with doctors, assistant nurses, coordinators, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, dietitians, and social workers. Together with the patient and with support from the team, neurological nursing care is adapted based on each patient's background, conditions, resources, and wishes to promote health. We are leading in nursing care to stabilize and rehabilitate patients with neurological diseases.
We are constantly working on development and improvement measures, which means there is room to work within the development areas that interest you. There is close collaboration between the intermediate care unit and the neurology ward, which is strengthened by the fact that the operations share facilities. Rotation between the units occurs during nighttime hours.
As a new nurse, you are offered an introduction with the possibility of a mentor who supports you when needed. Which unit you start on is decided in dialogue and based on your conditions. We want to promote that, based on your personal development, you have the opportunity to work on both units. The introduction is adapted together with you and is based on your wishes and conditions.
