The Department of Conservation at Gothenburg University offers professional preparatory education and research focusing on cultural heritage issues, landscapes and cultural environments, buildings, gardens, and artifacts. The department operates in two locations; Gothenburg and Mariestad. In Gothenburg, conservators and building archaeologists are educated. In Mariestad, education is offered focusing on building crafts as well as garden crafts and landscape care. For more information, see www.conservation.gu.se (http://www.conservation.gu.se).

The Department of Conservation is seeking an economist with broad competence in economics and administration. The position is located in Mariestad. Some work will take place in Gothenburg in connection with, for example, meetings, training, and networking events. Travel is included in the employment and takes place during working hours.

Job Responsibilities

The work is varied, and the position involves both ongoing economic administrative work and participation in the planning, coordination, and development of administrative processes within the operations. The role entails independent responsibility, but the work is carried out in close collaboration with colleagues, project managers, students, guests, and external partners.

The responsibilities include, among other things:

  • Ongoing handling of incoming and outgoing invoices
  • Handling of payments, postings, and economic follow-up related to conferences and seminars
  • Booking and administration of travel for individuals, groups, projects, guests, and students
  • Daily administration such as mail handling, shipments, reception, and book sales
  • Work with checklists and follow-up in connection with monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts
  • Archive management and document administration
  • Responsibility for the fixed asset register
  • Responsibility for the role as purchasing coordinator, purchasing, coordination of purchases and direct procurements, as well as associated documentation and archiving
  • Project budget work and handling of economic agreements with collaboration partners within the Craft Laboratory as well as cross-departmental projects
  • Administration related to local issues and agreements in Mariestad

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

  • A degree at least at the bachelor's level in economics or another area that the employer deems relevant
  • Good administrative skills and a structured and careful work approach
  • Good ability to work independently and prioritize between different tasks
  • Good teamwork skills and a service-oriented attitude
  • Good knowledge of administrative and economic systems

The following is considered meritorious:

  • Experience in economic and administrative work within the public sector, especially universities/higher education
  • Experience in purchasing and direct procurement
  • Experience in economic follow-up and budget work

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability. The employer will particularly value the ability to work in a structured and independent manner, good teamwork skills, and the ability to handle several parallel tasks while maintaining quality.

Employment

The employment is permanent, full-time, with placement indefinitely at the Department of Conservation, Mariestad.

Start date January 1, 2027, or by agreement.
