Do you want to contribute to preserving and exhibiting one of Sweden's most significant art collections? We are looking for you who have technical competence, good collaboration skills, and a genuine interest in museum operations and collection management.
Nationalmuseum is a government agency with approximately 160 employees tasked with promoting art, interest in art, and art history. The museum's collections include painting, sculpture, drawings, and graphics from the 16th century to the turn of the 20th century, while the collections of decorative arts and design, as well as portrait art, extend to the present day.
The collections are displayed in the main building on Blasieholmen, Stockholm, and at approximately 20 other visitor sites, including Gripsholm Castle, Läckö Castle, Nationalmuseum Jamtli in Östersund, and Gustavsberg Porcelain Museum.
Nationalmuseum conducts exhibition, program, research, and publication activities, as well as lending operations. We strive to be a museum where everyone feels welcome and offer a broad range of activities both on-site and digitally. By providing contemporary perspectives on history and historical perspectives on the present, we enable in-depth conversations about art and design for all ages.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
You will work with the installation and dismantling of exhibitions. You will actively work to ensure ergonomic working methods and a safe working environment, utilizing technical understanding and responsibility for structural calculations during hanging and assembly.
A significant part of the role focuses on planning and executing packing for exhibitions and lending activities, calculating volumes, and optimizing packing solutions to ensure safe and efficient logistics. You will prepare the basis for cost calculations.
You will register information about performed activities in the museum's collection management database and ensure that the data is accurate and traceable. You will collaborate with other functions at Nationalmuseum. The work will primarily take place in the museum's exhibition spaces and storage facilities. The position is located within the Art Handling Unit, which is part of the Conservation and Photography Department.
