Nurse/Community Nurse at Valsta Health Centre – Broad and Meaningful Assignment

Do you want to work as a nurse or community nurse in primary care? Valsta Health Centre is part of the Stockholm County Council (SLSO), one of Sweden's largest healthcare providers with over 11,000 employees. The health centre is located in south-western Märsta in Sigtuna Municipality, with good commuting options from both Stockholm and Uppsala by car, bus, or train. The detention operations and reception centre are located in Arlandastad.

Valsta Health Centre has approximately 20 employees, approximately 4,500 registered patients, and a child health centre (CHC) with approximately 900 registered children. We are one of seven health centres in the region that have asylum reception and perform health examinations for newly arrived people on behalf of the Swedish Migration Agency. We are also responsible for healthcare at the Swedish Migration Agency's detention unit in Märsta.

Job Description

As a nurse with us, you have a broad and varied job. You can work at the health centre, in the detention operations in Märsta, and at the reception centre in Arlandastad.

Your tasks include among other things:

  • Having your own reception for triaging and assessing patients
  • Working with healthcare for people in detention
  • Assisting at doctor's consultations and administering medication if necessary
  • Being a central contact for patients' contacts with other healthcare

At the reception centre in Arlandastad, you will also:

  • Conduct screening interviews with newly arrived people
  • Make initial health assessments and identify needs for further care or follow-up

The work requires broad competence and good ability to work independently. You work independently but always in close collaboration with other nurses, doctors, and psychologists.

In daily work:

  • We collaborate with the municipality, relatives, detention, and inpatient care to create good continuity
  • We work in a well-functioning team with a focus on the patient's needs
  • We use TeleQ and the medical record system TakeCare

Qualifications

  • Licensed nurse or community nurse
  • Experience in reception work

It is meritorious if you:

  • Have experience working with asylum reception
  • Have experience working in primary care
  • Speak several languages

You need to have good knowledge of Swedish and English in speech and writing.

Personal Qualities

You have a patient-focused approach to work and enjoy working both independently and in a team. You are secure in your professional role, structured, and can plan your work based on the patients' needs. You have good collaboration skills and contribute to a positive work environment.

Employment Type

We offer permanent employment on a full-time basis. Part-time can be discussed.

Start date according to agreement.

The position will be filled provided it does not need to be taken for internal reassignment, according to current regulations.

In patient-related work within the Stockholm County Council (SLSO):

- Register checks are applied before the decision on employment according to SLSO's overarching guidelines for register checks upon employment.

- Employees who will have patient contact must undergo a new employment examination, according to current directives, which takes place through occupational healthcare before employment.

- In addition to Swedish professional licensure, good knowledge of the Swedish language corresponding to level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is required. The same requirements are guiding for non-licensed personnel with patient contact.
