We are offering a position as a School Social Worker (Skolkurator) at our two schools, Backluraskolan and Maltesholmsskolan. Both schools, located in Hässelby, have students attending from preschool class to grade 6, and Maltesholmsskolan also offers adapted primary education. Backluraskolan, located in Hässelby Villastad, has approximately 460 students and just over 60 employees. Maltesholmsskolan, located in Hässelby Strand, has approximately 430 students and just over 85 employees.

Your role

In the role of School Social Worker, you will be an important part of the school's student health team. As a School Social Worker, you primarily work preventively and health-promotingly, contributing psychosocial and social competence in close collaboration with student health professionals and other school staff.

The tasks are varied and diverse throughout the workday. Examples include:

• Identifying and analyzing opportunities and promoting factors in the school's learning environment, as well as reducing barriers to learning and personal development at the organizational, group, and individual levels.
• Holding conversations with students individually and in groups, attending parent meetings and network meetings, supervising, and consulting school staff.
• Documenting for decisions regarding individual student work and for the school's systematic quality work.
• Participating in the development and implementation of action plans regarding crisis management, value-based work, conflict management, as well as the plan against bullying and active measures to counter discrimination.
• Contributing knowledge about society's resources and support systems and collaborating with, among others, social services, child and adolescent psychiatry, habilitation, association and field activities, and the police.
• Being responsible for the school's safety team and for following up on reported bullying cases.

Your competence and experience

We are looking for you who have:

• A degree in Social Work (Social Work) or another equivalent education.
• Good knowledge of children and young people as well as their development.
• A broad register of working methods based on theories about societal and social systems, human behavior, communication, and the interaction between people.
• Good knowledge within social work, psychosocial change work, sociology, psychology, social law, as well as broad and continuously updated knowledge about society's welfare system.

As a School Social Worker, you are required to take independent responsibility for your own professional work and how the psychosocial intervention should be concretized and shaped. A work plan with prioritized areas of operation based on the school's needs and systematic quality work is developed in dialogue with the school management. This provides great freedom of action but also places high demands on good judgment and good knowledge of the basic mandate according to the Education Act, curricula, and other steering and guiding documents.

The work of a School Social Worker requires the ability to handle multiple different perspectives, as the school social work must protect and highlight the importance of structural, organizational, and relational perspectives. The School Social Worker is also responsible for maintaining and deepening their professional competence and monitoring the external environment.
