Do you want to work with legal issues that impact daily life and make a real difference?

Ängelholm Municipality is now seeking an engaged municipal lawyer who wants to take on a broad and developmental role where law, operationally close support, and strategic development meet. You will be working with children, students, the elderly, and residents in Ängelholm.

A modern and agile organization

In Ängelholm Municipality, we have broken away from traditional administrative structures and created a modern service organization with so-called main assignments. This means we work agilely, without hierarchy, and collaboratively across boundaries to create the greatest possible value for those we serve. Here, you will have significant autonomy and strong trust to utilize your professional expertise. To ensure you get the best possible support in your daily work, you will also have a central-level lawyer colleague, providing excellent opportunities for professional dialogue and close collaboration.

1 position(s).

Responsibilities

In the role of municipal lawyer, you will be an important strategic and operational support for both the operations and our managers. The position focuses on three of our main assignments: Learning and Family, Health, and Municipal Management. You will be physically located together with colleagues in the Learning and Family and Health main assignments.

Your responsibilities span a broad and exciting field where you will, among other things:

  • Support managers, principals, and case handlers in the application of law and exercise of authority according to the Education Act, Social Services Act, LSS (Act on Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments), and related regulations.
  • Handle supervision of independent preschools and leisure centers, as well as questions regarding supplementary fees.
  • Conduct legal investigations, prepare decision materials, and develop municipality-wide steering documents, guidelines, and routines.
  • Write statements and represent the municipality before supervisory authorities such as the Swedish Schools Inspectorate, IVO, and the Parliamentary Ombudsmen, as well as participate in court processes if necessary.
  • Provide advice and lead internal training initiatives to strengthen the organization's legal security and competence.
  • Support operations in complex confidentiality assessments and the handling of public documents.

Our external environment is changing rapidly, and we are on an exciting development journey. Therefore, you are expected to monitor the external environment and contribute legal perspectives on issues such as data protection, digitalization, and new working methods.

Qualifications and Merits

Your profile: As a person, you feel at home in an organization driven by openness, care, and drive. You are accommodating, attuned to the needs of the operations, and able to explain complex law in an understandable and professional manner, even in sensitive situations. You are analytical, confident in your legal competence, and easily switch between details and a broader holistic perspective. Since your role involves many contact surfaces across several large operational areas, you have excellent collaboration skills, take responsibility for your issues, and drive processes forward with a solution-oriented approach.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A law degree
  • Good knowledge of administrative law and documented experience in independently writing statements and conducting qualified legal investigations.
  • Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience in legal work within public administration, preferably within municipal operations.
  • Experience in work related to the Education Act, Social Services Act, LSS, or supervisory work.
  • Service as a court clerk (notary merit) or other documented procedural experience from the courts.
  • Experience in conducting training or leading development initiatives.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
