For all animals in Sweden to have the conditions to live as good a life as possible, there are the District Veterinarians. With 24/7 readiness, clinics across the country, and unique knowledge of animal health, we contribute to healthier animals and a safer life. As district veterinarians, we work on behalf of private individuals, companies, and authorities. We offer socially vital services for emergency animal care, disease control, and preventive measures for good animal health. Always with our feet on the ground and our hearts in the right place. The District Veterinarians are part of the Swedish Board of Agriculture.

Our practice area includes the clinics in Söderköping and Valdemarsvik. Here, 13 veterinarians and 10 nurses work. The staff usually works at both locations to varying degrees. The clinics are well-equipped with small animal X-ray, anesthesia equipment, dental units, dental X-ray, and a laboratory primarily for emergency analysis. We also have seven fully equipped cars as well as shared portable X-ray and ultrasound equipment.

Job Responsibilities

As a veterinarian with us, you have the opportunity to work broadly and variedly with all animal species, while also having room to develop within a specific animal species or area. We have 24/7 readiness, year-round, which means night and weekend work is part of the position.

Sometimes you work alone, but you are never isolated. We are a large organization, and support and advice from experienced colleagues is just a phone call away. During evenings and nights, there is always a manager on call (CiB) and our emergency phone 9900, where staff receive calls from pet owners and coordinate contact with the relevant veterinarian. There is always a colleague to ask for advice, whether a colleague on call (KiB), at your own clinic, or at a nearby clinic.

Qualifications

  • Swedish veterinary license

We are looking for you who are a licensed veterinarian. If you are at the end of your education and have not yet received your license, you are also welcome to apply.

  • A B-class driver's license is required.
  • Experience of previous work as a veterinarian. If you have previously worked as a veterinarian, it is an advantage.

To succeed in the role, you need to be structured, have good teamwork skills, and be solution-focused. It is important that you can work independently and be self-sufficient while also appreciating collaboration with colleagues.

Furthermore, you need to have good computer skills and good administrative ability, as booking and record-keeping are important parts of the job.

  • Salary: Monthly salary.
