About the Job

In this position, you will serve as a support function for researchers within the experimental activities at the Centre for Social and Affective Neuroscience (CSAN). The research conducted focuses on neurobiological mechanisms, underlying affective diseases, and addiction.

Your responsibilities will include:

• responsibility for animal handling and active work with animal models together with researchers in the group
• performing molecular biological and biochemical analyses, such as preparation of proteins and nucleic acids from human and rodent tissue, ELISA, and various PCR methods

About You

We are looking for someone with a Bachelor's degree in biomedicine/biology or equivalent. The applicant must have documented good knowledge in neurobiology.

Completion of a course in laboratory animal science (LiU course code 8FO0141 - Laboratory Animal Science, 5 HP or equivalent course at another university) is a requirement. The applicant must have experience working with rodent models for affective disorders/addiction; experience with stress models, operant self-administration, conditioned place preference, and observation-based fear conditioning is particularly relevant. Specific knowledge regarding behavioral analysis (using programs such as EthoVision and ImageJ), experience with tissue sampling, and laboratory methods such as immunohistochemistry and ELISA are required, as is experience with confocal microscopy.

You should have strong initiative and well-developed communication skills. As you will be working in an international environment, very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is a requirement. Furthermore, you are responsible, engaged, and able to work independently while also having good teamwork skills. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability.

Fixed-term employment, 1 year full-time.
