Your responsibilities

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will join a newly established research group in pharmacogenomics at the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences at Linköping University. The projects involve identifying pharmacogenomic biomarkers from biobanks as well as clinical genotyping and sequencing data, and developing machine learning methods to interpret the functional consequences of pharmacogenetic variants.

As a postdoctoral researcher, your primary role will be research. Teaching may also be included in the duties, but no more than one-fifth of the working time.

Your qualifications

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, you must have completed a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree. Your degree must be completed no later than the time the employment decision is made.

It is meritorious if your degree was completed no more than three years before the last application date for this position. If there are special reasons, it may be considered as a doctoral degree completed earlier, for example, in cases of various types of statutory leave.

We are looking for you who have a doctoral degree in pharmacology and/or bioinformatics and have extensive experience in pharmacogenomics, machine learning-based prediction methods, genetic association analyses, and bioinformatics.

Previous experience in population pharmacogenomics, functional interpretation of pharmacogenetic variants, and analysis of sequencing data (e.g., variant and star-allele determination, analysis of rare variants), as well as experience with large-scale biobank data (e.g., UK Biobank), structural bioinformatics (e.g., functional analysis based on 3D protein structures), and machine learning methods within pharmacogenomic research are particularly meritorious. A strong publication list in relevant scientific journals is seen as an asset.

Very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is required. Knowledge of Swedish is not required for this position. We value high work ethic, good teamwork skills, and the ability to work both independently and in teams.

The position is a fixed-term appointment for three years. The position is full-time. Start date by agreement.
