Your tasks will involve the organic synthesis of optoelectronic ligands with various optical properties. These ligands must also be able to interact with different types of biomolecules and be linked to various molecular building blocks using click chemistry. The project involves collaboration between different disciplines within chemistry, physics, and medicine, as well as cooperation with national and international research groups, requiring strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

As a postdoctoral researcher, your primary role will be conducting research. Teaching may also be included in your duties, comprising no more than one-fifth of your working time.

We are looking for you who have a solid background in the organic synthesis of molecules for biological and medical applications. We want you to have:

  • a PhD in organic chemistry
  • documented proficiency in organic synthesis, specifically in the synthesis of thiophene-, benzimidazole-, and indole-based small molecules
  • mastery of various synthesis techniques, such as Suzuki-Miyaura Coupling, Buchwald-Hartwig Cross Coupling Reaction, and various types of click chemistry
  • experience using a range of analytical methods, such as NMR, HPLC, mass spectrometry, absorption, and fluorescence spectroscopy
  • strong collaboration skills and the ability to speak and write fluently in English

It is meritorious if you have:

  • experience working in interdisciplinary research environments alongside researchers from other scientific disciplines
  • experience synthesizing optoelectronic heterocyclic compounds

Your workplace

You will work at the Department of Chemistry, which is part of the Division of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM) at Linköping University.
