The Building and Environment Division has overall responsibility for ensuring people's health and our surrounding environment, as well as the building process. The division consists of four units: environmental protection, health protection, food, and building permits.

The Health Protection Unit consists of 12 dedicated employees who work as environmental and health protection inspectors and administrators. The unit is divided into two groups: health protection and sewage, where your role will be within the health protection group.

Together at the unit, we work for good health and a good environment in several areas, including educational activities, housing environment, and small sewage systems. We carry out supervision work and preventive work with information and advice.

We make decisions on measures that require permits or notifications and investigate complaints about operations that may have negative effects on people's health, as well as acting as a consultative authority for other agencies. We also handle cases related to noise and cases concerning small sewage systems and treatment plants.

Our unit is characterized by commitment, collaboration, and a strive to deliver good quality. We are located centrally in Norrköping, at Trädgårdsgatan 21, with proximity to most things.

Your responsibilities

As an Environmental and Health Protection Inspector with us, you will have a diverse and rewarding role where you work with supervision, review, as well as information and advice. You handle cases, for example related to complaints about the housing environment, and participate in consultative work within the unit.

We also offer the opportunity to engage you in different parts of the community planning process. This may involve following up on health protection issues in detailed planning work, contributing to the formulation of governing documents, and participating in various working groups within the department.

In your role, you have an important function as the face of the unit and the municipality. You collaborate with private individuals, other municipalities, and authorities, and build relationships with various actors.

You will become part of a competent and engaged work group where collaboration and knowledge exchange are a natural part of everyday life.

Who are you?

We are looking for you who have a bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental and health protection, or other equivalent education that the employer deems relevant. You have several years of experience working with environmental and health protection issues, preferably within health protection.

As a person, you are driven and strive to achieve set goals. You are skilled in collaboration with others and have a good ability to build relationships. You are receptive and adapt your communication to the person you meet, while always giving a professional reception. You see the big picture in your work and can independently plan and organize your tasks with a focus on structure and efficiency.

A B-class driver's license is a requirement for the position.
