The position will be part of an interdisciplinary project aimed at manufacturing new electronic medicines for Parkinson's disease. Your tasks will consist of the organic synthesis of optoelectronic building blocks that can be used to manufacture materials with different electronic properties, and these materials must also be able to interact with various types of biomolecules. The project takes place in collaboration between different disciplines within chemistry, physics, and medicine, as well as in cooperation with national and international research groups, which requires interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

As a postdoc, you will primarily conduct research. Teaching may also be included in the duties, but no more than one-fifth of the working time.

We are looking for you who have a solid background in the organic synthesis of molecules for biological and medical applications. We want you to have:

  • a doctoral degree in organic chemistry
  • documented proficiency in organic synthesis with a focus on the synthesis of thiophene-, benzimidazole-, and indole-based small molecules, as well as other heterocyclic building blocks for optoelectronic materials
  • mastery of various synthesis techniques, such as Suzuki-Miyaura Coupling, Buchwald-Hartwig Cross Coupling Reaction, and various polymerization reactions
  • experience using a range of different measurement methods, such as NMR, HPLC, mass spectrometry, and fluorescence spectroscopy
  • good collaboration skills and the ability to speak and write fluently in English
