SÄS's introduction program for newly graduated nurses is based on the Region Västra Götaland's enhanced professional introduction, the Clinical Base Year. However, at SÄS, we are unique in that our introduction is also built on the following five basic conditions:

  • Independent work with your own professional responsibility as a licensed nurse
  • Adapted tasks and workload
  • Support from an experienced nurse
  • Education and clinical training
  • Reflection

The SÄS introduction program for newly graduated nurses lasts for one year and begins with a 12-week introduction schedule. The introduction schedule means that you share your shifts with an experienced nurse. You perform independent tasks based on your individual development plan, with tasks and workload adapted to you. This gives you the opportunity to gradually ramp up and grow into your new role. During each work shift, we ensure that there is a designated experienced colleague you can turn to for questions and support. At the end of your 12 weeks with the introduction schedule, an assessment is made regarding the need for continued support based on your individual development.

For the remainder of your first year, you work independently in your care unit. During this period, you have recurring mentoring sessions with an experienced nurse who supports your professional development. Parallel to your clinical work, you participate in an education program together with other newly graduated nurses at SÄS. After one year, you have completed your introduction and acquired relevant knowledge and necessary skills, allowing you to feel secure in your continued professional practice as a nurse in your care unit.

Department of Medicine

On the Department of Medicine, we have 24 care beds divided into three teams. Our care consists primarily of two specialties, but we also have responsibility for general internal medicine. We work in teams together with assistant nurses, doctors, and pharmacists. On the department, we investigate, care for, and treat patients with lung and/or kidney diseases. We collaborate with outpatient clinics where admitted patients are often followed up after their stay on the department. Patients often have complex care needs, and as a nurse, you will have the opportunity here to develop yourself and your competence in several medical specialist areas.

Your Profile

We are looking for you who are a newly graduated nurse with less than 4 months of professional experience in the profession. As a person, you are curious and strive to grow and develop in your professional role. We value good collaboration and your ability to build good relationships. You thrive in a varied daily routine and have the ability to transition to independent work as you become more secure in your tasks. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Other
