Boverket is the national authority for planning, building, and housing. We aim to contribute to a sustainable society with good housing in vibrant environments. Our focus lies on issues concerning the built environment, management of land and water areas, physical planning, construction and management of buildings, housing, and housing finance. Since July 2025, Boverket has also served as the preparedness authority within the preparedness sector for industry, construction, and trade.

Boverket's headquarters are located in Karlskrona, with a smaller office in Malmö. Today, approximately 250 people work at the authority, including architects, civil engineers, economists, lawyers, communicators, planners, and social scientists.

Boverket's mission within the housing social sector is increasing, particularly regarding issues related to safety-enhancing and crime-preventive measures in urban and residential environments, as well as issues concerning socially vulnerable areas. Therefore, we wish to strengthen our teams working with these missions.

Your role with us

In the role of a social planner with a focus on safety-enhancing and crime-preventive work, you will take independent responsibility in various projects and in the handling of referrals related to the subject area. Your main focus will currently be work on safety-enhancing and crime-preventive measures in social planning, among other things through an existing government mandate we have in these areas.

The work may involve project management, investigation, analysis, and report writing. An important part of the work is also communication and guidance. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, such as authorities, municipalities, property owners, and housing organizations.

At Boverket, assignments and focus areas vary over time within planning, construction, and housing. Therefore, there are great opportunities to broaden your competence and take on new types of issues. We expect our investigators and specialists to be ready to step into new subject matters and fields of work as the operations develop and change.

Your competence profile

We are looking for someone who has:

• extensive experience with PBL (Planning and Building Act) planning
• experience from working with safety-enhancing and crime-preventive issues with a focus on housing supply and/or social planning
• experience in investigation and analysis work
• fundamentally, we believe you have an academic education as a social planner, physical planner, cultural geographer, or similar direction that the employer considers equivalent.

It is meritorious if you have at least one of the following experiences:

• extensive relevant working life experience from public operations, preferably both at the state and municipal level
• project management of investigation projects in public operations
• previous experience of work related to the gender equality policy goals
• practical experience of work with safety-enhancing and crime-preventive measures in planning contexts.

Personal qualities

As the work often takes place in groups, it is important that you are receptive and have an easy time collaborating, but you also need to be good at taking your own initiatives. You have a good ability to create and maintain networks with various stakeholders. You communicate clearly and pedagogically in speech and writing. As the work consists of both written guidance and report writing, it is particularly important that you can express yourself well in writing. You have an easy time switching between different issues and can work independently and structured to achieve set goals according to the schedule. We place great importance on your personal qualities.
