As an early childhood educator (barnskötare) in Skellefteå Municipality, you are a vital part of the children's daily life and development. Here, you work closely with both children and colleagues in an environment filled with play, safety, and learning.

YOUR ROLE

As an early childhood educator in Skellefteå Municipality, you help make the everyday meaningful for the children. You actively participate in their play, learning, and development and contribute to creating a safe environment where every child feels seen and included. Your task is to work together with preschool teachers and colleagues to put plans into practice – through activities, excursions, and everyday situations that strengthen the children's language, imagination, social skills, and understanding of the world.

In this role, you are a present adult who meets the children where they are, both in small moments and in longer processes. You help shape a practice where joy, safety, and learning always go hand in hand, and where children get the best conditions to grow and develop.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for you who have an early childhood educator education, either from the Child and Youth Program with a social or pedagogical focus, or through vocational training for adults. If you have previously worked in preschool, it is a great advantage. Since you will be working closely with children, it is a requirement to submit a current extract from your criminal record.

This is a role where your personal qualities matter greatly. To thrive and succeed, you need to enjoy working with children, value play as an important part of learning, and be a secure role model. You are considerate in your interactions with children, colleagues, and guardians, and you contribute without ego to the common goal – the children's safety, development, and learning.

In the role, you also need to be structured and able to plan, organize, and follow up on your work, while remaining flexible when daily life brings changes. As a present adult, you take responsibility for the children's safety by keeping an eye on things, being aware of risks, and acting quickly when necessary.

Since the work involves documentation and communication using digital tools, it is important that you have basic IT skills. It is also a requirement that you have good communicative skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, and can adapt your language to different situations and audiences. A category B driver's license is also required in some areas.

It is an advantage if you speak Finnish or Sami, as Skellefteå is a municipality with Finnish and Sami minority status. Knowledge of sign language is also seen as a resource.

All positions are part of the preschool's initiative to increase basic staffing. This means that you will work where the need for reinforcement is greatest within your principal's area. Therefore, you may work at different preschools and contribute where the practice needs support. The role suits you if you enjoy a varied workday and find it easy to collaborate, adapt to new situations, and build good relationships with both children and colleagues.

We are currently looking for early childhood educators for the following principal areas:

• Sunnanå/Tuböle - permanent positions. Category B driver's license and access to a car are required.
• Anderstorp/Sörböle/Omsorg - 1 permanent position and two fixed-term positions during the period 1 September 2026 – 1 March 2027. Category B driver's license and access to a car are advantageous.
• Bureå/Lövånger - permanent positions. Category B driver's license and access to a car are required.
