UmArts, in collaboration with the School of Architecture, is now seeking an intermittent project assistant for a creative environment working on an as-needed basis. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with creative people and is interested in supporting the development of artistic research in a critical context. UmArts is Umeå University's research centre for architecture, design, and art, in collaboration with the University College of Fine Arts, the School of Architecture, the School of Design, the Department of Aesthetic Subjects, and the Image Museum. The centre offers an exciting interdisciplinary environment for research in visual arts, architecture, design, and art education.
Responsibilities
You will work closely with UmArts management and researchers to support the centre's daily operations in line with its strategic goals. You will report to the UmArts director and research coordinator. The main responsibilities include:

Qualifications
You have at least a high school diploma and experience working with 3D printers. You possess solid computer and web skills, including good knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to navigate various digital platforms. You have an understanding of decision-making structures in a public sector organization and of professional artistic work in an academic environment.
As a person, you have strong organizational skills and the ability to work patiently and meticulously with administrative and technical tasks. You are self-motivated, take initiative, and work independently towards set goals. You have good teamwork skills and a flexible, team-oriented attitude when working with researchers from different disciplines. You are structured, solution-oriented, and have a talent for building positive relationships in a creative and academic environment.
A university degree in design, art, or architecture is an advantage. Experience in organizing public events is also considered a merit, as is experience working in an artistic environment.
Personal suitability is given great weight.
Conditions
The position is an intermittent employment with an hourly wage during a framework period of 12 months. The framework agreement start date is September 1, 2026, or as agreed.
The scheduling of working hours may vary but primarily involves daytime work, Monday to Friday. Work in the evenings and/or on weekends may occur.
The intermittent employment form means that you may be offered work on individual, short-term occasions during the current framework period. The employment occasions are time-limited with support from the Employment Protection Act (Lagen om anställningsskydd) 5 § 1 p. Being on call in this manner means that you can accept or decline each occasion you are offered to work, and a new employment relationship begins at each individual occasion you work.
