Unit Manager – Strengthen Consumer Protection in the Insurance Market

Finansinspektionen (FI) is now seeking a Unit Manager for one of the units within Insurance Supervision. This is an opportunity for you who wish to combine leadership, business development, and public service.

About the Role

As Unit Manager, you lead a group of knowledgeable and engaged employees. Together, you work to strengthen consumer protection and meet new risks in a changing market. Your role is to create direction, context, and good conditions for employees to develop and succeed in their assignments. This means that your leadership qualities, your ability to create engagement and development, and your ability to achieve results through others are essential for success in this role.

The unit is responsible for supervising the conduct of insurance and occupational pension companies towards consumers. The work includes, among other things, supervision of product design, distribution, and advice, as well as companies' handling of conduct and sustainability-related risks. The unit is also responsible for the supervision of insurance intermediaries, branches, and cross-border activities, and contributes to licensing matters within its area of responsibility.

You lead a business that works with ongoing supervision, analyses, and targeted investigations from a risk-based approach. Together with the employees, you develop supervision as the market changes and new risks emerge. You are part of the department's management group and contribute to ensuring that the department's combined assignments are carried out in an effective and well-functioning manner. As a manager, you are present and accessible. You create engagement by giving trust, encouraging initiative, and providing support when needed. Your leadership is characterized by trust, care, and clarity.

Your Education and Experience

We are looking for you who have

• an academic degree in economics or law, or equivalent education
• experience of creating results through others, either as a manager with personnel responsibility or through a leading role in larger projects and development initiatives
• several years of experience in qualified work within the insurance, occupational pension, or financial market sector
• good knowledge of regulations and issues related to the insurance market, consumer protection, or financial supervision.
• very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.

It is meritorious if you have

• experience of supervision, audit, control, or investigation work within public or private operations
• experience of working with consumer protection issues, distribution, advice, or insurance brokerage
• experience of leading change and development work in a knowledge-intensive organization.
• experience of international work or work related to European regulations and collaborations within the finance or insurance sector.
