Welcome to the Neurology and Stroke Unit in Östersund

Care and Responsibilities

At the Neurology and Stroke Unit, you will meet patients of various ages who are being investigated for or diagnosed with different neurological conditions. You will encounter a mix of acute, chronic, and rehabilitative conditions. You will also meet patients in the end-of-life phase where palliative care is the focus. The unit currently has 18 care beds for both acute and planned admissions. As a nurse, you are responsible for a maximum of 6 patients if the unit is fully occupied.

Support and Development

As a newly hired nurse at the unit, you will receive an individual introduction plan, which includes supervision and present leadership. We work in close dialogue with you as an individual regarding what you need to feel secure, to meet your development, and to provide you with the prerequisites for providing good and safe care.

Digital Tools

At the unit, you work with a digital patient overview via a personal tablet that you carry with you throughout your entire work shift. In the tablet, you have a very good overview of your patients, their tasks and conditions, medication lists, as well as which tasks you and your colleagues are to perform. You will also have access to your email and the unit's team; you can save your own notes and set up your own favorites as support in your daily work.

Job Duties

As a nurse with us, you work in a team with many other professions. You are responsible for general and specific nursing care and you participate in planning regarding the patient's care period and possible rehabilitation. Opportunities for observation (auscultation) exist.

Requirements and Qualifications
