The Urban Environment Administration has overall responsibility for the city's public spaces and collective accessibility. We work to create accessible, attractive, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas. The administration owns and manages the tram network in Gothenburg. Approximately 1,000 people work at the administration.

The Urban Environment Administration is part of the urban development administrations in the City of Gothenburg. Together, we work to create conditions for functioning infrastructure, quality housing and premises, an inviting public environment, and strive for the city to be sustainable from all perspectives.

Job Responsibilities

Do you want to help develop the city's traffic environments and contribute to a sustainable and well-functioning Gothenburg?

As a Traffic Investigator here, you work with investigations and traffic design in both small and large, simple and more complex assignments. You participate in and independently drive various types of development work, which often include environmental analyses.

An important part of the work is producing texts, new design principles, standard drawings, and illustrations for the Technical Handbook.

Examples of ongoing assignments include:

• Developing principles for the selection and design of different street types
• Developing design principles for continuous tracks
• Developing principles for the design and planning of mixed-traffic streets in the cycle network
• Developing sightline requirements

The work requires traffic planning competence with an understanding of design and shaping, as well as the ability to balance function, place, and a holistic perspective. You work structurally with investigations and have good written communication skills.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have an engineering degree or equivalent experience, as well as several years of experience in traffic design in complex urban environments. You have high traffic technical competence and enjoy contributing to sustainable and well-functioning solutions in the city's public spaces.

• An engineering degree (civil, university, or college engineer) or other education and experience that the employer considers equivalent
• Several years of experience in traffic design in complex urban environments
• High traffic technical competence

It is meritorious if you have:

• Experience in design or reviewing design documents
• Understanding of the city's urban development processes
• Knowledge of the city's technical handbook
